The New York Yankees continue to shuffle their roster around in order to find the right mix of talent to have a shot at the AL Wild Card. They sent down CF Melky Cabrera to the minors and cut 1B/DH Richie Sexson.

Cabrera has been in the Yankees batting order for nearly three years but has struggled mightily this season. Batting .242 with 8 HR and 36 RBIs.

For Sexson, this could be his last stop in the Major for some time. The 14-year vet has barely stayed above the Mendoza Line (.200 batting average) since 2007.

Cabrera and Sexson will be replaced with minor league prospects Brett Gardner and Cody Ransom.
