Saturday's Major League Baseball action kicked off with a matchup between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, a low-scoring affair the Yankees would go on to win 2-1.
Yankees starting pitcher Mike Mussina pitched six scoreless innings before relief took over and closer Mariano Rivera just about gave the two-run lead away.
Rivera allowed a Mike Lowell RBI in the ninth inning and even loaded the bases before recording three consecutive outs to end the game.
Elsewhere in the Majors the Toronto Blue Jays prevailed over the Los Angeles Angels 7-5 thanks largely in part to a 3-5, two RBI and three stolen base effort from Alex Rios.
Fresh off an 18-17 comeback victory on Friday night the Colorado Rockies once again had their bats working for them as they defeated the Florida Marlins 12-6.
