Yankees Trade for Ivan Rodriguez

There has been plenty of action the week before baseball's trade deadline, and Wednesday the New York Yankees dropped the biggest bomb of all, trading right-handed pitcher Kyle Farnsworth to Detroit for All-Star catcher Ivan Rodriguez according to ESPN.

With catcher Jorge Posada out for six months to a year after shoulder surgery the Yankees have apparently hedged their bets by signing another All-Star behind the plate.

The Yankees had recently acquired outfielder Xavier Nady from Pittsburgh.
