Did you miss UFC 101 on Saturday night? Well we can't give you a replay but we can certainly fill you in on the results.

In the feature event, Anderson Silva landed a hard shot while going backwards to knock out Forrest Griffin in a dramatic light heavyweight bout.

Silva, listed at -500 to win, toyed with Griffin throughout the heavily hyped bout.

The win over Griffin (+300) was Silva's record 10th in a row in the UFC and his 11th in succession overall.

He was so good that he overshadowed the lightweight championship fight between B.J. Penn and Kenny Florian.

Penn retained the title in the fourth round of a gritty battle, slapping a rear naked choke on Florian and forcing him to submit at 3:54.

Florian (+220) was rarely able to use his Muay Thai as Penn negated those skills expertly.

Penn won the match as a -280 favorite.

It also featured two big names in the Light Heavyweight division fighting for their very UFC lives. But the event turned out to be a disappointment, due to its slow fights and lack of knockouts.

In the main event Anderson Silva defended his Middleweight belt with a five-round unanimous decision over Thales Leites. The champion fought a smart fight against a dangerous opponent, much to the displeasure of the crowd and his fans who have become spoiled watching him destroy opponents in a round and a half over the last few years.

UFC 97 will be known for the day that Chuck Liddell’s career in the Octagon ended after a much more motivated Mauricio Rua knocked him out in the first round. Liddell will have to fight outside the UFC if he wants to continue to compete.

The challenger, Thales Leites, is the big underdog at +350, despite Silva’s lackluster performance in his last outing against Patrick Cote.

As tempting as that line may be, Thales wins fights with his ground skills, and he won’t have that edge against the champion. Despite his impressive record, Thales has not fought many fights against top-level contenders. That leaves a situation where Silva beats down Thales with strikes until Thales gets knocked out.

The more interesting bet on the card is Chuck Liddell -175 vs. Mauricio Rua +145. Rua was out-of-shape against Mark Coleman but should come in against Liddell trimmed up. His skills and speed are still there, and if his mind is in the right place he could easily beat a slower Liddell for the upset. Bodog has all your UFC odds. Get them now before the big fight!

The latest disappointment: Saturday’s UFC 90 card at the former Rosemont Horizon near Chicago. Anderson Silva retained his middleweight championship when Patrick Cote’s right knee gave out from under him as he prepared to engage Silva early in the third round. It was a lackluster event up to that point, as both fighters were focused primarily on the counter-attack.

Here are the results for the main card from UFC 90:

Lightweight: Sean Sherk beat Tyson Griffin by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) in the Fight of the Night.

Heavyweight: Junior dos Santos beat Fabricio Werdum by KO (strikes) at 1:20 of Round 1.

Lightweight: Gray Maynard beat Rich Clementi by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

Welterweight: Thiago Alves beat Josh Koscheck by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27).

Middleweight: Anderson Silva beat Patrick Cote by TKO (injury) at 0:39 of Round 3.

This Saturday’s UFC 89 card from across the pond (available for free in North America via tape delay) is really more of an appetizer for the hotly anticipated UFC 90 show next month at the former Rosemont Horizon on the outskirts of Chicago. The main event has Anderson Silva defending his UFC middleweight title against Patrick Cote.

Cote is a +475 underdog to pull off what would be an industry-shaking upset. Silva is considered the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world, and a win over Cote would presumably set the stage for a big-money fight between Silva and another Quebec native, Georges St. Pierre. Cote and St. Pierre train together in Montreal.

Cote has won his last five fights, all of which came after he competed in The Ultimate Fighter 4. Backing the TUF alumni has been a goldmine for MMA handicappers; think Keith Jardine (+300) over Chuck Liddell.

For the UFC uninitiated, let's get it out of the way: Anderson Silva is probably the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world already.

Reputable MMA publications like Sherdog and Yahoo! Sports already have Silva atop their best "P4P" (shorthand for pound for pound – c'mon, try and keep up) lists; given his outright domination since coming to the UFC in 2006, it's hard to argue against his top billing.

So when Silva steps into the ring against former World Extreme Cagefighting heavyweight champ James "The Sandman" Irvin this Saturday at UFC Fight Night 14, he won't be looking to establish his position. He'll be looking to solidify it.

Not that he'll be admitting any of this – at least not on record, anyway.

"I don't think I am the best of the pound-for-pound like Dana White said. I don't think I am the best in my division. I will only be able to say that to you when I quit fighting," Silva told Sherdog's Gleidson Venga. "Then I will be able to say that I was good at that, that in my time I was in my best form, in my weight and in my division. It's just that nowadays, I'm not. I still have many things to do."

Tops on Silva's to-do list is take care of Irvin at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Irvin – perhaps best known for his record-setting knockout (eight seconds!) of Houston Alexander at the last UFC Fight Night – has a puncher's chance against Silva (-500) and the odds to prove it. Currently listed as a +350 underdog in the Bodog Sportsbook, Irvin comes in having won four of his last five fights, the lone blemish a TKO due to knee injury against Thiago Silva.

Boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. is disappointed that a fight with Anderson Silva has been called off by UFC management. The current UFC middleweight champion, Silva recently mentioned in an interview that he'd be interested in a boxing match against Jones, once ranked by many as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world.

Jones was flattered by the idea and it looked like the fight might actually happen. Jones was the -2,800 favorite to win the fight in the Bodog Sportsbook, with Silva the +1,400 underdog.

Now, the match has been called off by UFC president Dana White, who laughed at the idea of letting Silva fight outside the octagon. In an interview with nydailynews.com, Jones laments the loss of the match. "It would be a good fight," he says. "As fighters we're supposed to be trying to do things that amaze people and make history. This could have been something that people really wanted to see. I just think it's wrong not to allow him to get the opportunity to live out his fantasy to be in the ring with one of his heroes. That's the kind of thing that boxing promoters usually do."

A fight between UFC champion Anderson Silva and boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. may become a reality.

According to NBCSports.com, representatives for both fighters are meeting to talk about putting the boxing match together.

"Roy likes the idea and is up for it," says Alan Hopper, director of public relations for Don King Productions. "It's being discussed. Roy will only agree if the match takes place under the rules of boxing, and UFC would have to clear Silva's participation."

For the fight to happen, Silva would have to get permission from both UFC president Dana White and Keith Kizer, executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

"It's [Silva's] burden to prove," Kizer says. "He'd be taking on a future Hall of Famer in Roy Jones. There's no question he can get licensed to box, the question is the matchup. We'd have to look at his training, his background, his history and gather the facts before a decision."

Currently, Silva's mixed martial arts record stands at 21-4. Although he has had some boxing matches in the past, a match with Jones would obviously be a huge step up in competition.

Although no date or venue has been named, odds for the fight are up in the Bodog Sportsbook, with Jones as the -2800 favorite to win and the UFC champion as a +1400 underdog.

Contacted by Silva's manager Ed Soares, Jones' management said that the former boxing champion was "flattered and excited" to hear about the octagon champ's interest in fighting him.

Now, odds for the fight are online in the Bodog Sportsbook.

Once considered the top pound-for-pound boxer in the world, Jones is the -2800 favorite to win. Silva is a +1400 underdog.

No date or venue has been announced for the match, which still has one foot in the world of "maybe". For now, the ball is in the court of the UFC, who must decide whether to allow Silva to fight Jones under boxing rules.

Boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. says he is interested in fighting Anderson Silva.

Recently, the UFC middleweight champion spoke about his dream of facing Jones, once one of the top pound-for-pound boxers in the world, in a boxing match.

Now according to Silva's manager Ed Soares, Jones has expressed interest in the idea as well.

"I just spoke with Roy Jones’ management and they are very interested in it," he tells MMAweekly.com. "They think it would break all kinds of pay-per-view records."

"It all kind of started as a dream of Anderson’s," Soares explains, "but if the UFC would back it, it is something that we really would like to pursue. They think it will actually bring together the boxing and MMA communities."

With both fighters on board, the only obstacle could be Silva's UFC contract, which forbids him from participating in combat sports outside the octagon.

"Anderson looks up to Roy Jones, and he would love to test his skills against him. At the same time, we are very loyal to the UFC and would love to represent the UFC in a boxing match with Jones."

Soares says that Jones is “flattered and excited” by the idea.
