It took him about 4 hours and 20 minutes to do it, but in beating Andy Roddick on Sunday at Wimbledon (5-7, 7-6, 7-6, 3-6, 16-14) Roger Federer now has 15 tennis majors, more than any other man in the history of the sport.

Roddick gave it a massive effort and in congratulating Federer he called him a "true champion."

"You played unbelievably today," Federer said to Andy after the match.

And to the crowd in attendance, Federer said: "My head is still spinning and this is an unbelievable feeling. It feels amazing and it's one of the greatest moments I've had in my career."

And the magic number is…15. Federer is the greatest tennis player in tennis history.

Andy Roddick is back in the Wimbledon semi-finals for the first time since 2005, facing No. 3-seeded Andy Murray of Britain today. Roger Federer, who is seeking a sixth Wimbledon championship and record 15th Grand Slam title, faces No. 24 Tommy Haas of Germany in the other semi-final.

Roddick’s major title, not quite six years ago, was also the last at any Grand Slam event for an American man, the country’s longest drought in the Open era, which began in 1968.

Murray (-330) is 6-2 against Roddick (+250), including a lopsided victory in their most recent meeting, in the final of a hard-court tournament at Doha, Qatar, in January.

This match could be decided by Roddick’s serve against Murray’s returns.

Federer is listed as a -1400 favorite to get to a record seventh consecutive Wimbledon final and record 20th career Grand Slam final.

UPDATE: Federer easily dispatched Tommy Haas to move onto the final.

Roddick’s best showing at the French Open ended with a lopsided loss in fading light. The American played poorly in a 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 fourth-round exit against 11th-seeded Gael Monfils of France.

The Frenchman finished with a 45-18 edge in winners and a 17-4 advantage in aces. Roger Federer had a better day but he sure is playing preoccupied now that Rafael Nadal is out of the way.

He dropped the first two sets of his fourth-round match against 63rd-ranked Tommy Haas before fighting back to win 6-7 (4), 5-7, 6-4, 6-0, 6-2 to grab a berth in the quarterfinals.

Federer (-450 favorite) will next play Monfils (+300) and will try and improve on a 4-0 record against the Frenchman.
