With one of his best performances ever, LeBron James has carried the Cavaliers to the brink of another playoff sweep. The Atlanta Hawks sure know what they're up against, having watched their most inspired showing of the series turned into just another loss by the MVP's 47 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists.

James made 15 of 25 shots, including 5 of 10 from 3-point range. He drew one foul after another, going 12 of 16 at the free-throw line. He also led all rebounders with 12, guiding the Cavaliers to a mammoth 46-23 edge on the boards.

The Cavaliers have yet to be seriously challenged in this postseason, setting an NBA record with seven straight double-digit victories.

LeBron James scored 27 points, ending the first and second quarters with last-second baskets, and Mo Williams added 15 points as the untested Cavaliers overpowered the Atlanta Hawks 105-85 on Thursday night to open a 2-0 lead in their Eastern Conference semifinal.

Now a perfect 6-0 (6-0 ATS) in the postseason, the Cavaliers tied a league record by winning their sixth consecutive playoff game by double digits.

If that wasn’t bad enough for the Hawks, Joe Johnson rolled his right ankle in the third quarter and did not return.

X-rays were negative, but Johnson wore a walking boot as he went to the bus before heading home for Game 3 on Saturday. The series now switches to Philips Arena, where the Hawks went 31-10 during the regular season and beat Cleveland once.
It was Cleveland's fifth straight double-digit win in the NBA playoffs.

The Cavaliers are allowing just 76.8 points per game, more than 11 fewer than the next team still alive in the postseason.

The Cavs were ranked No. 1 in points allowed during the season and were the only team to hold opponents to fewer than 92 per game. They also finished second in defensive field-goal percentage and first in defensive 3-point percentage.

Atlanta must do a better job of handling Cleveland's intense defensive pressure or this series could be over quickly.

Atlanta coach Mike Woodson said that Al Horford would be a game-time decision for tonight's Game 2 due to a sore right ankle.
It's no coincidence that the two Miami Heat wins in this Eastern Conference first-round series against the Atlanta Hawks came in Jermaine O'Neal's best games with Miami.

Looking every bit the All-Star of old, O'Neal combined for 41 points and 16 rebounds in those contests, and it's him, not Dwyane Wade, that has the Hawks befuddled entering tonight's Game 4.

Atlanta is willing to concede certain things offensively to Wade, knowing no team has completely stopped the NBA's scoring champion. So the Hawks' defensive game plan is built around stopping Miami's supporting cast, like O'Neal, Udonis Haslem, Michael Beasley, and Daequan Cook.

The 5-point underdog Hawks have lost 12 straight postseason games on the road since 1997, including losing four games in Boston last year and the one in Miami on Saturday by a staggering average of 26.4 points.

If they win tonight, home-court advantage swings back to Atlanta. Get your NBA basketball odds in the Bodog Sportsbook.

The Hawks harassed D-Wade with constant double teams and made him look very ordinary in a 90-64 blowout.

Now, Wade is eager to make amends for his Game 1 performance and he'll get his chance tonight.

The Miami superstar scored just 19 points on Sunday and missed all but one of his six attempts outside the 3-point arc. Even worse, he equaled a season high with eight turnovers, more than double his average.
With Wade having an off-night, no one stepped up to fill the void.

Michael Beasley had 10 points and was the only other Miami player in double figures.

The 5-point favored Hawks know Wade will get it going since only once this season has he been held to less than 20 points in two consecutive games.
The NBA schedule-makers have given us a timely preview of the first-round playoff series between the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference, the Atlanta Hawks (46-34 SU, 43-36-1 ATS), and the No. 5 Miami Heat (42-38 SU, 38-40-2 ATS). Only Tuesday’s matchup will probably not look anything like what we’ll see when they lock horns in the postseason.

The Miami Herald reported Monday that the Heat are taking a “wait-and-see” approach on whether to rest their starters against Atlanta. Dwyane Wade and Jamario Moon (groin, abdomen) were specifically named as candidates to take off the last two games of the season. They’d join Jermaine O’Neal (calf) and Udonis Haslem (hand) on the sidelines.

At the other end, the Hawks are expected to give the following players “plenty” of floor time, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: Speedy Claxton, Solomon Jones, Mario West, Randolph Morris, Thomas Gardner, and Othello Hunter. Be sure to bet on the game with your NBA basketball odds in the Bodog Sportsbook.

The Atlanta Hawks hope to replicate a strong performance against another team battling for playoff position in the Eastern Conference tonight when they look to strengthen their hold on fourth place with a road game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

In addition to the game against the Sixers, the Hawks also visit the Celtics and host Orlando before this rough stretch ends. Atlanta, however, has to be feeling better about its chances to win those games after defeating the West-leading Los Angeles Lakers 86-76 on Sunday.

The Sixers could steal home court in the first round with a strong finish and a Hawks collapse, but they'd first have to pass fifth-place Miami. To do so, they'll need to play better than they have in their last two games, which included a home loss to Charlotte and a 101-97 defeat at Detroit on Sunday.

The Sixers and Hawks split their first two meetings, both in Atlanta. Be sure to bet on the game with your NBA basketball odds in the Bodog Sportsbook.

Coming off two of their biggest wins of the season, the Atlanta Hawks look to remain undefeated on their seven-game homestand tonight as they face an Indiana Pacers team that may see Danny Granger return.

The Hawks snapped Utah's 12-game run with a 100-93 victory Wednesday night, two days after stopping New Orleans' seven-game winning streak with an 89-79 win. They also ended Cleveland's 11-game win streak on Dec. 13.

Indiana has gone 6-4 since losing Granger, who averages 25.0 points to rank sixth in the league, to a torn tendon in his right foot. The Pacers expect Granger to come back this week, either against the Hawks or at Toronto on Sunday.

Jarrett Jack has really stepped up for the Pacers and is averaging 23.0 in his last eight games.

The Hawks and Pacers each have one win in this season's series, with both games played at Indiana. Get your NBA basketball odds in the Bodog Sportsbook.

It will be a true test for this young team and have a major impact on where they finish in the Eastern Conference. Atlanta will play basically every other day between now and the end of the month.

It starts this week with games against the likes of the Wizards, Knicks, and Charlotte Bobcats on Friday night.

Atlanta is 3-0 against the Bobcats this season, while only allowing Charlotte to average 86.0 points per game.

For Charlotte, getting wins at home is vital if they want to have any shot at sneaking into the final postseason spot.

The long western travel is over, but their last four games are away from Charlotte, so they’d have to make up most, if not all, of the gap by April Fool’s Day to make a serious run.
Kobe Bryant and the league-best L.A. Lakers resume their quest for a championship tonight when they host the Atlanta Hawks.

The 9.5-point underdog Hawks aren’t talking about championships yet, but they’re in the mix for homecourt advantage in the East after winning five of their last seven before the break. Atlanta is six wins shy of its total from last season, when it took eventual champion Boston to seven games in a first-round playoff series.

The Lakers have shot 50.0 percent or better in each of their last five home games against the Hawks, going 4-1 in that stretch. Bryant and Pau Gasol scored 23 points apiece in Los Angeles’ 122-93 rout of Atlanta last time they played at Staples Center.

Joe Johnson is averaging 25.0 points and shooting 48.9 percent in his last seven games against Los Angeles.
