Donning bright colors similar to that of a Tide commercial, the new kids of West Beverly continually reminded us that yes, they were rich and spoiled. Of course, there were over-the-top moments to be expected in any teen drama and for those, we were compensated with slick camera pans and decent dialogue. With a scene ripped straight from Arrested Development, along with the grandmother played by Jessica Walter, at least the writers are stealing from good shows.

There were also cameos from prior 90210 stars for us old folk. Nat was working at a newer, revamped Peach Pit and Brenda Walsh came back looking kind of hippyish. Kelly Taylor was now a single mom who will  most likely break hearts all over again and well, Donna Martin was a no-show due to a salary dispute.

The Hollywood Reporter says, "Let it be said at the outset that the latest, hotly anticipated new edition doesn't embarrass as much as many had feared given the decision by the CW publicity department not to send out screeners in advance to critics. This form of journalistic blasphemy will no doubt result in the show getting panned by many scribes just on general principles. But the truth is it really isn't so horrible after all."

Spelling was reportedly set to join the "edgy, contemporary spin-off" of the '90s hit 90210 on the network this fall earing $10-20K per episode. She then found out that Doherty and Garth are to earn $35-50K per episode. Spelling demanded that they each get equal pay. However, the network balked, forcing Tori to pull out of the series.

90210 premieres September 2nd with a 2-hour special. An insider said, "She thought she deserved parity, and she's got a point."

Gabrielle Carteris (Andrea Zuckerman) was on The Surreal Life (ouch) and has had guest starring roles on NYPD Blue and Nip/Tuck. She also injured her face on the set of a made-for-TV movie (ouch again). The book on motherhood is tentatively titled Mommywood, and it will focus on her life as a mother to 1-year-old Liam and newborn Stella, as well as her relationship with husband Dean McDermott.

"My first book sTori Telling was an amazing cathartic journey for me," Spelling said in a statement to US magazine. "Now, being a mom of two beautiful babies, I'm excited to share more stories as I embark on this new chapter of my life."

Spelling's journey through marriage and motherhood can also be seen as witnessed on her reality TV show, Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood on Oxygen.

As for Spelling's return to 90210 as Donna Martin, "It's going to be great," she said. "The fans have been wanting this for a long time!"

Spelling was apart of the original cast of 90210, created by her father, Aaron Spelling. On that show, Donna married her high school sweetheart, David Silver, when the show ended in 2000.

"Donna loved designing and wanted a career in fashion," Tori said to People. "It'll be fun to explore that storyline. And I'm sure fans will be dying to know if she's still married to David!"

According to a rep for the show, Donna will "own one of the coolest stores in Beverly Hills."

"Donna Martin was such a huge part of my life," Tori said. "It's going to be so fun to work with Jennie [Garth] again and see where Donna is today. When they say you can't go home again, it's not true. I'm headed back to the zip code I know best and couldn't be happier!"

Dustin Milligan, a 22-year-old Canadian actor, will take up residence in the rehashed tween drama Beverly Hills 90210. Milligan previously starred as Henry in the fleeting CW drama Runaway.

Milligan's acting resume also includes roles in Final Destination 3, The Messengers and Slither.

The show's pilot has been written, but not yet titled. However, creator Rob Thomas gave away some details of the show's plot to People.

"The guy who gets hired as the new principal brings his family of four from Kansas to Beverly Hills. The principal, himself, graduated from West Beverly High School," Thomas said. "The grandmother – the principal's mother – is a Julie Christie-like actress who is once again going into rehab."

It is not known whether any of the original cast will make a transition onto the new show, though we all know Tori Spelling is champing at the bit.
