Aside from awarding a T$500 seat to the winners of the Championship and Contender Series events all week, bodog.com will also be dedicating an entire day – Saturday, Nov. 7 – to qualify people into the BPO IV Championship.

Starting at the lowest level of buy-in available on Saturday ($1), the BPO IV Main Event Cheap Seat takes place at 1:40am and will award one seat to a Semifinal event, worth T$29. The next step up is the $5 + $.50 BPO IV Main Event Qualifier scheduled for 5:25pm and 10:05pm, both which offer two guaranteed T$29 seats into the BPO IV Main Event Semifinal. That Semifinal event is then set to take place at 8:05pm and guarantees one seat into the BPO IV Championship worth T$500.

On top of this ladder schedule, hopefuls will also have multiple chances to play in higher buy-in events that guarantee multiple seats to the BPO IV Championship. At 1:15pm, 4:15pm, 7:15pm and 10:15pm (all times Eastern) there will be a $69+$6 BPO IV 3 Seats to Main Event, which guarantees three T$500 seats into the Championship.
Moving on into Sunday, Nov. 8, before the Championship event, Bodog will be hosting 12 different last chance qualifiers all with a $100+$9 buy-in, ranging from regular structure to turbo and super turbo. These events run between 11:15am ET – 3:02pm ET and guarantee at least one $T500 seat for the Championship per qualifier.

Running from Nov. 1 – 8, 2009, the BPO IV features two different tournament series running at the same time: the lower-stakes "Contender Series" with several guaranteed prizepools and the "Championship Series" with higher buy-ins, $60,000 in added prize money and the Bodog Poker Open IV Championship Event, which guarantees piles of cash and a boat-load of media exposure to the winner.

"With the Bodog Poker Open IV, Bodog.com is giving online poker players of all levels a chance to strike it rich and gain major exposure as the next Bodog Poker Open Champion," says Bodog.com Poker Pro David Williams. "It takes a great deal of patience and skill to run deep in this tournament, and any poker player who can take down the Championship Event deserves not only the huge cash prize, but also the recognition that comes along with it."

The week-long Bodog Poker Open IV Championship Series gets under way on Nov. 1 and features seven events with buy-ins ranging from $50+$5 (rebuy) to the $470 buy-in Championship Event, which will feature $25,000 in added prize money and for the winner a feature in an international poker publication.

The Bodog Poker Open IV Contender Series is scheduled to run over the same time period and will feature lower buy-in events as well as the chance to win a seat into the Championship Series. Each winner of the Contender Series events will receive T$500 to buy into the BPO IV Championship Event while the rest of the final table participants in those events will receive a seat into the Contender Series Championship Event and its $2,500 in added prize money.

"With the chance to rise through the ranks, from contender to Bodog Poker Open IV Champion, the Bodog Poker Open IV promises to be one of the biggest and best tournament series in Bodog.com’s 15-year history," says Williams.

The Beat got a chance to exchange some questions yesterday with Bodog's newest poker champion and winner of the Bodog Poker Open III Main Event, "biffsworld."

The 23-year-old Pennsylvania resident says he has been playing in the Bodog Poker room for about two years and during that time has won and final tabled a few smaller tournaments, but this is his biggest win.

When asked at what point he realized he might have a shot at taking down the event, he responded that "with around 25 people left [he] started really building up a good size stack and was able to pad [his] lead by putting a lot of pressure on [his] opponents." Apparently, winning a lot of coin flips helped him out a great deal, too.

The most memorable hand of the tournament for "biffsworld" came against the player on his immediate left mid-way through the tournament. On a flop of 3-7-10 with two hearts, the other player check-raised him and he called with 4-6, thinking if he hit a straight he could potentially win a big pot or could at least take it down on the turn if a scare card hit. The Kh hit on the turn and the other player checked. "Biffsworld" bet out and was able to take down a good-sized pot.

While "Biffsworld" plays a good mix of online and live poker tournaments, he has yet to participate in a WSOP event but is mulling over the idea of heading out to Vegas for the 2009 WSOP. What he does know for sure is that he's not gonna go crazy with the $40,282.50 he received for winning the BPO3 Main Event, but he will probably do a little traveling.Maybe to Vegas this summer? Who knows.

Congratulations once again to "Biffsworld" and don't forget to check out Bodog's value-packed lineup of poker promotions and the full schedule of online poker tournaments.

The second day of the Bodog Poker Open III was once again very successful, pulling in more than 500 players to the three different events and paying out almost $60,000 in prize money plus many T$50 bounties.

The BPO3 High-Stakes tournament for the day was a $250+$20 buy-in No Limit Holdem tournament that drew in 117 players, creating a prizepool of $34,250, $5,000 of which Bodog added in out of the goodness of their hearts. Walking away with the $10,275 first-place prize was online poker player "fyoudubby."

Here are the full final table results:

1. fyoudubby – $10,275.00
9. checkcallpray – $582.25

The BPO3 Mid-Stakes event for the day was a $20+$2 Rebuy tournament with a $15,000 guaranteed prizepool. That guaranteed amount was put into effect giving the 185 players who entered extra value for their buy-in, especially for "hebs," who took home the $4,125 top prize.

Bodog regular "daisyxoxo" emerged victorious to take home the $2,500 first-place prize plus T$150 for knocking out "Alienface," ParliGod" and "Panicked," who himself was responsible for knocking out both Bodog poker pros who participated in the event, Evelyn Ng and Jean-Robert Bellande.
