Clay won the Olympic decathlon on Friday, capturing gold in the two-day, 10-discipline event with 8,791 points. The 2005 world champion, Clay led the Olympic competition by only 88 points after Thursday's opening events – the 100m, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400m.

But he seized command early Friday, finishing second in the 110-meter hurdles in 13.93 seconds for 984 points, then winning the discus with a throw of 53.79m for 950 more and clearing 5.00m in the pole vault for 910 points.
