St. Louis is tied with Anaheim and Nashville for the last two playoff spots in the Western Conference with 88 points. While the Blues and Ducks have two games remaining, the Predators have one.

The Blues have won seven of nine, including a 5-1 victory at Phoenix on Tuesday that completed a 3-1-1 road trip. St. Louis has also won four straight at home, where they last played in a 4-3 shootout win over Columbus.

The Blue Jackets have been hot at home going 6-1-1 in their last eight to jump into sixth place in the West.

Three of those wins have been particularly impressive. Columbus posted victories over San Jose, Detroit and Boston.

Pittsburgh appeared to be in serious jeopardy of missing the playoffs as recently as two weeks ago, but seven consecutive wins have last season's Eastern Conference champion right back in the postseason mix.

Marc-Andre Fleury has posted a 1.81 GAA while starting all seven games during Pittsburgh's winning streak.

The Rangers have won just once in five games in Columbus, and have lost their last three versus the Blue Jackets and five of their last six.

Jason Chimera, Jakub Voracek, and Derick Brassard have combined for seven goals and nine assists this season, helping Columbus win two of its last three. Rick Nash has a team-high five goals, scoring at least one in each of the last three games.

Sharp hockey bettors jumped on the moneyline Friday night when they saw the Columbus Blue Jackets were paying a whopping +255 to upset the Detroit Red Wings in Motown.

Detroit entered the game on a four-game skid and with a 5-4-1 mark in its last 10. The Wings were also forced to start the struggling Chris Osgood because of a hip-flexor injury to Dominik Hasek. Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets came in having earned points in three of their past four and looking to push themselves into playoff position.

Motivated to take advantage of lackluster play by the NHL’s best team, Columbus blasted Detroit, 5-1, at Joe Louis Arena. Frederik Modin had two goals and Rick Nash had a goal and three assists as the Blue Jackets took a 3-0 lead in the first period, forcing Osgood from the game. Nikolai Zherdev, who reportedly recently adopted a chia seed diet, had a goal and an assist.

The betting total also went over 5.5 goals.

Atlanta 4, New Jersey 3: The Thrashers pulled the upset in the 10th round of the shootout. Pascal Dupuis beat Martin Brodeur for the winner as Atlanta paid +165 at Newark, N.J. Marian Hossa had tied the game when he scored with 18.1 seconds to go in the third period.

Florida 4, Washington 2: David Booth had a goal and an assist as the host Panthers rallied for a win. Florida paid -130.
