Right behind the Blue Devils at 82.3 points a contest is Davidson, which of course is led by the explosive Curry.

The Blue Devils have won 66 straight at home against non-conference opponents since Feb. 26, 2000.

After a long and extremely exciting run, Stephen Curry and his world-shocking Davidson Wildcats will be heading home.

The number one-ranked Kansas Jayhawks became the fourth Regional favorite to make it all the way to the Final Four, joining UCLA, North Carolina and Memphis, with their 59-57 victory Sunday afternoon.

The intensely fought match saw the tenth-seeded Wildcats on top with seven minutes remaining in the second half and come frighteningly close to stealing the game out from underneath the Jayhawks in the final seconds.

With time burning off the clock, sophomore sensation Curry had the ball and the opportunity to further his vastly-expanding NCAA legacy.

But Curry, who finished with 25 points, couldn't break free from a hounding Kansas defence and lateraled the ball to point guard Jason Richards who mislaunched the potential winner.

In Richards' defence, the overlooked point man finished the contest with seven points and eight assists.

Brandon Rush of Kansas finished the game with 12 points but struggled from the field finishing just 4-14. Sasha Kaun however, as he nearly doubled his season average with 13 points on 6-6 shooter.

Marion Chalmers added 13 for the Jayhawks.

With the win, Kansas will prepare for their semifinal matchup with the North Carolina Tar Heels.

NCAA's Prodigal Son Strikes Again

At what point can we abandon our faith in the national seeding system and admit that a team capable of steam rolling through Gonzaga, Georgetown and now the University of Wisconsin is no longer the underdog?

Led by the NCAA's prodigal son (and Dell Curry's real one), the Davidson Wildcats prevailed over the Wisconsin Badgers 73-56.

After scoring a combined 70 points in the first two games of the tournament, Stephen Curry poured in another 33 to give him an outstanding average of 34.3 points per game in this year's big dance, and the world is taking notice.

The game was close for the bulk of the first half and, as a result, the two teams took to their locker rooms tied 36 at the half. Not long into the second half however, things would change.

Immediately the Wildcats would prove to be the better team following the break as they jumped out with an 18-9 run, fueled largely in part by the baby-faced Curry just weeks removed from his 20th birthday.

Curry erupted for 22 points in the second half alone.

Despite his irrefutable dominance however, Curry was not alone in his efforts to propel Davidson to an even higher level of national infatuation. Point guard Jason Richards added a more-than-respectable 10 assists in the contest.

Coming up next for Davidson in their quest to sneak their way to a national championship is the winner of tonight's Kansas/Villanova matchup.

Can underdog Davidson keep this ball rolling by beating Wisconsin, a team not many prognosticators gave much respect at the start of the NCAA tournament?

Oddsmakers have the Wildcats as +5.5 and +215 on the moneyline, despite the fact the Davison has peeled off 23 wins in a row and just upset Georgetown.

Wisconsin is a tough-minded, defensive squad that well represents the Big Ten’s reputations for playing one of the most boring brands of ball in the country. But not even the defense-first, Big East Hoyas could contain Stephen Curry in the second round of March Madness.

Curry is averaging 35 points per game through two rounds, 25 in the second half. He’s been lights out, going 14-25 against Georgetown and filling up the stat sheet with three steals, five assists and three rebounds. All while looking like a prepubescent junior high-schooler.

"It's been one of the greatest weeks of my life," Curry said. "It's just been crazy for us."

Of course Wisconsin has to stop Curry, but also has to consider the likes of Andrew Lovedale and Jason Richards, both of whom have contributed major minutes for Davidson.

Lovedale hauled in 13 rebounds in a comeback win over Gonzaga, while Richards is averaging 17.5 points and 7.5 assists in the Big Dance thus far.

For Wisconsin, they’ve yet to be really challenged, walking over Cal State Fullerton and Kansas State by 15 and 17 points respectively.

The Badgers are led by Tyson Hughes (11.6 points and 2.5 assists) and Brian Butch (12.4 points and 6.7 rebounds) and know what it takes to stop a team led by a superstar. They held likely number one NBA draft pick Michael Beasley to 8-19 shooting in the second round of March Madness and forced K-State to shoot just 39.6 percent form the field.

There's been a lot of talk about the Davidson Wildcats' basketball team and their star shooter, Stephen Curry. That's what happens when a small school makes a run in the NCAA tournament. Two years ago, everyone was wondering where the heck George Mason is located? (Answer: Virginia.) This year, the question is, "Where is Davidson College?"

The answer: in the small town of Davidson, North Carolina.

Davidson College was founded way back in 1837 and currently educates about 1,700 undergraduates.

It even boasts an ex-president among its alumni: Woodrow Wilson.

According to ex-NBA long-bomber, Dell Curry, his son Stephen – who you might have noticed in this year's NCAA tournament – might actually be better than his father. It's a shocking admission for any dad to make, even if it's obvious to everyone else.

From the Wilmington Star-News:

"I still got a quicker release, but he's quicker in all other facets of the game," Dell said between signing autographs.

That's how well son played; even Dad is handed a pen and a game program. He's not scribbling "Steph's Dad" yet.

"I'm getting noticed more as Steph's dad than Dell. That's all right, too. It's that time."

Two was not a kind number in the NCAA Tournament Sunday. Moments after Texas, the second seed in the South Region, survived against Miami, No. 2 Tennessee was forced into overtime against No. 7 Butler in the East and No. 2 Georgetown lost a lead to No. 10 Davidson in the Midwest. Tennessee escaped with a 76-71 win in Birmingham, Ala., but Georgetown flamed out as Davidson’s Stephen Curry blew up again for 30 points in a 74-70 victory in Raleigh, N.C. The Volunteers got four free throws in the final 13.6 seconds of overtime from JaJuan Smith to advance to the Sweet 16. Tennessee’s success at the free-throw line helped their bettors get their money back. The March Madness point spread was five and the betting result was a push.Wayne Chism dominated inside with 16 points and helped limit the Bulldogs’ talented freshman Matt Howard to just four points. Butler got a sterling effort from veteran guards A.J Graves (21 points) and Mike Green (15), but it wasn’t enough to push them into the NCAA Tournament’s second weekend. Meanwhile, underdog Davidson emerged as a legitimate Final Four threat by rallying from a 17-point deficit to upset the Hoyas. Curry, who had only five points in the first half, exploded for 25 after intermission and now has 70 points in his two games of the tournament. Curry hit the go-ahead three-pointer and nailed five of six free throws down the stretch to stagger Georgetown. Fellow guard Jason Richards had 20 points for Davidson, which beat the point spread of five and advanced to face No. 3 Wisconsin in Detroit next week. In a West Region game:No. 12 Western Kentucky 73, No. 13 San Diego 64: The Hilltoppers moved on to face No. 1 UCLA next week when Courtney Lee scored 29 points. How did this place get so full of smoke so early in the morning? Maybe (probably not) it was the hot shooting of Gonzaga’s Steven Gray, who started his team’s first round matchup in the NCAA tournament against Davidson by going 5-5 from the land of three.

With the longest win streak in college basketball (22 games) on the line, the Wildcats fell behind Gray and the Bulldogs by 11 early in Raleigh, NC but pulled back to within five before the half.

Stephen Curry, who averaged 25.1 points per game and had 139 3-pointers this season, came out of the break smokin' himself, hitting two quick 3-pointers to keep his Wildcats in it. He then tied the game on a three with 9:47 to play, before the Wildcats took their first lead with 8:27 to play.

Gonzaga badly out rebounded Davidson for most of the game but it wasn’t enough to overcome Curry’s incredible 40 points, 30 of them in the second half. He was 14-23 from the field and 8-11 from beyond the arc.

The game went over the 141 total and Davidson covered the -1 spread..

Davidson will now put its 23-game win streak on the line against either Georgetown or UMBC in the second round of March Madness.
