The EPT London wrapped up in the wee hours of this morning (or was that tomorrow or yesterday? stupid time zones…) and crowned a new champion, Aaron Gustavson, but the real story was how close another champion, Peter Eastgate – 2008 WSOP Main Event champion, came to winning.

As if determind by fate, Eastgate started at the final table in second place with a 2 to 1 chip deficit to chip leader Gustavson and would enter the heads-up battle in the same position with the same deficit. Unfortunately for Eastgate, destiny was apparently getting tired and needed to go ahead and wrap things up and go to bed because that heads-up battle only lasted for seven hands before Gustavson laid claim to the EPT London title.

Even with a second-place finish, Eastgate takes strides toward placing his name among those to keep an eye out for on the international poker tournament circuit and not just some luckbox who managed to win the biggest prize in poker.

Here are the full EPT London final table results and payouts:

1. Aaron Gustavson – £850,000
2. Peter Eastgate – £530,000
3. Nikolai Senninger – £285,000
4. Martin Gudvangen – £227,000
5. Dominic Cullen – £173,000
6. Rui Milhomens – £124,000
7. Raymond Wu – £87,000
8. Karim Bennani – £50,100

Riding on the coat tails of the WSOP Europe, the European Poker Tour event in London has taken on a life of its own, drawing in some of the biggest names in poker from around the world. Arguably one of the biggest names, being the defending WSOP Main Event champion and all, is Peter Eastgate, and he has successfully navigated yet another large tournament field to reach the final table of the EPT London.

While not drawing in the thousands that Eastgate beat out in the 2008 WSOP, the EPT London does boast a very healthy field of 730. At time of publish, that number had been whittled down to just three remaining players, with Eastgate (7,630,000) second in chips behind Aaron Gustavson (9,145,000) and out in front of Nikolai Senninger (5,135,000).

On the line for Eastgate is the £850,000 ($1.35 million) first-place prize and an increasing amount of validation for 2008 WSOP victory. Eastgate won a $5,000 buy-in event at the PCA in January of this year and has cashed in two other EPT events in the meantime.

Obviously, play will continue until there is a winner, so stay tuned for more EPT London updates. If you want to travel to Europe and play in a major international poker tournament, then qualify online for the EPT with the Bodog Flight Club promotion.

The sixth season of the European Poker Tour got underway on Tuesday with the inaugural EPT Kyiv. The event, which was originally slated to take place in Moscow but had to change location after some political wrangling, drew an impressive 296 players, 116 of whom hail from Russia, a testament to the growing popularity of poker in Russia.

With Day 2 of the €5,000 buy-in tournament now in the books there are still 203 players left in the running with most of them being the aforementioned Russians, including Ivan Demidov, Alex Kravchenko and Alexander Kostritzyn. Other recognizable names still alive in Kyiv are Katja Thater, Shaun Deeb, Andrew Feldman, Nicolas Levi, "Miami" John Cernuto, Christian Dragomir and former Team Bodog member Atanas Gueorguiev.

The players return tomorrow (today? yesterday? time zones are confusing) to continue down to the final table and the ultimate goal of the €330,000 first-place prize. The top 40 players get at least their money back and the top eight (EPT is different) will play at the final table.

If you want a chance to qualify online for the EPT, Bodog Poker's Flight Club promotion is giving away at least one seat every month to a major international poker event. A full list of events and locations can be found here.

Much like Vegas and the WSOP during the months of June and July, London has become the hub of the poker world for September and October. Not only does the WSOP Europe take place during this time in one of the world's greatest cities, but the ever-expanding EPT London takes place as well and has just announced an expanded schedule.

While the WSOP Europe is scheduled to run from September 18 – Oct 1, the EPT London has attached itself to the end, taking advantage of all of the poker players who will be in town. The first event of the EPT London will be the three-day £20,000 High-Roller event, a popular event last year that was won by American Jason Mercier. The £5,000 Main Event – won by another American, Michael Martin, last year - is expected to draw a large number of players and will consist of two starting days, October 2 and 3, with the final table scheduled for October 7. There will be 14 other events on the schedule, including the newly-added £1,000 6-Handed No Limit Holdem event, £1,000 Pot Limit Omaha 8-or-better event and the £2,000 European 8-Game Championship.

The series will take place at the London Hilton Metropole Hotel, a shift from last year's location at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino as organizers are expecting much bigger crowds and the Hilton can hold a much larger number.

This will be the third stop on the EPT tour this year, which kicks off in just four days with the EPT Kyiv and then continues onto Spain for the EPT Barcelona before heading north to London. Online poker players wanting to travel the world and play in some of the biggest poker tournaments in the most exotic locations can qualify online for the EPT with Bodog Poker and the Flight Club promotion.

Bodog poker pros Justin Bonomo, Evelyn Ng and David Williams are all playing in major poker tournaments this week and you can follow all of their action on Twitter. Hell, that's what we're doing to find out how they're faring.

Bonomo is at the last WSOP Circuit event for the season being held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. According tio his Twitter updates (@JustinBonomo), he is one of 16 remaining players left in the $5,000 buy-in event and as the top 18 cashed, he is in the money:

394k end of day 2. 16ish left. 1.5x avg or so.

He also seems to be getting unlucky against fellow poker pro Men "The Master" Nguyen quite a lot:

Avg stack (150k) w 30 left. 18 make the money. Bad level. Men the master sucked out on me twice. Asdfhaghdhwhdg.

We'll assume that was frustration at the end of that tweet.

Williams (@dwpoker) and Ng (@evybabee) are both over in Monte Carlo for the EPT Grand Final and while Evy did not have a great first day (which may be an understatement based on the following):

there's nothing shittier than having to report an early bustout when i am doing twitter updates. i'm not blaming twitter, but ^%$$%^!

it looks like Williams is running strong:

End of level 6. Up to 127k. Making so many big hand.

With 539 players in the field, it looks like the payouts in Monte Carlo will be impressive, so DW will be looking to cash big if he can keep making hands and hitting cards. We'll keep you updated on all the action, or you can check it out for yourselves on their Twitter pages.

Why from her Twitter updates of course. She posted this nine hours ago:

is taking off for san remo italy.

That tweet was followed by this two hours ago:

san remo is all that :)

See how our l33t deductive reasoning skills come into play there?

Anyway, the €5,000 ($6,500) buy-in EPT San Remo is in it's second year after an impressive 701-player turnout for it's debut last year. The large field generated a €3,100,000 ($4 million) prize pool which paid out €869,000 ($1.13 million) to winner Jason Mercier. More of the same is expected this year.

If you want an insider's view of the tournament and a look at how one of the Bodog poker pros lives the Bodog lifestyle in one of the world's most beautiful places, then you can follow Evy's Twitter updates, @evybabee.

The European Poker Tour is back in the swing of things in Dortmund, Germany, this week for the EPT German Open. Day 1a is already in the books and Day 1b is now underway, and based on the unofficial entrant numbers for today, this year's event will be a record-breaker.

When all was said and done on Day 1a, 306 players had ponied up their €5,000 ($6,380) buy-in to participate in the event, much more than half of the 493 total entrants that showed up last year. So, all they needed was another 180-ish players to come out for Day 1b in order the break that record. With the unofficial numbers being reported right now, 350 people have come out for today's competition, putting the total way above that number. What economic downturn?

Among the players that came out for the EPT German Open were several well-known poker pros including Katja Thater, Luca Pagano, Max Pescatori, Clonie Gowen, Marcel Luske, Dario Minieri, 2008 WSOP Main Event champion Peter Eastgate and defending champion Mike "timex" McDonald.

Survivors of the eight blind levels of carnage today will join the 115 survivors from Day 1a for Day 2 tomorrow. The chip leader from Day 1a is Swedish poker pro William Thorsson and it looks like Pescatori has jumped out to an early lead today.

Stay tuned for more updates from the EPT German Open and if you want us to be updating on your progress at an EPT event, then qualify online for the EPT through the Bodog Flight Club promotion and travel the world in style.

Bodog Poker is once again giving online poker players the opportunity to jet set to one of the world's most exotic locations – San Remo, Italy – for an upcoming European Poker Tour event on April 18. The $270 Bodog Flight Club semifinal on March 16 at 9pm ET guarantees at least one seat to the EPT San Remo tournament along with the chance to live the exclusive Bodog lifestyle.

The EPT San Remo takes pace at the Casino Sanremo in the beautiful city of San Remo, located on the serene Mediterranean coast of Italy. The €5,000 + 300 buy-in event made a splash on the EPT last year when 701 players signed up to play, generating a massive prizepool and a €869,000 ($1,372,893) first-place prize that was taken home by online qualifier Jason Mercier.

Winners of this Bodog Flight Club package will wing their way to a possible date with destiny and the chance to duplicate Mercier's accomplishment and, better yet, his payday. They also become a member of Team Bodog and will enjoy all the perks that come along with that – travel and accommodation*, buy-in to the championship event*, spending money*, a Bodog Poker swag bag and the chance to make a little extra on the side based on performance and exposure.

The Bodog Flight Club promotion has already qualified six online poker players to play in major poker tournaments around the world, including the EPT San Remo. Bodog regular "Nate Avenson" is heading to the LAPT Punta Del Este on March 18th, "jkrohn22" and "Kutzzz" will both be making the trip to the Big Easy for the WSOP Circuit event in New Orleans this May, "crappy player" is going to Connecticut for the WPT Foxwoods Poker Classic next month and "afroburg" is already set and ready to go to the EPT San Remo.

Qualifiers for the Bodog Flight Club Semifinal run every Monday between now and March 16 and there are satellites running for as little as $1 or 100 Bodog Poker Points, so there’s no reason to miss out on the action.

With the poker world buzzing about the upcoming boxing match between Danish poker pros Gus Hansen and Theo Jorgensen, Bodog is giving everyone a chance to get in on the action with newly-released prop bets on the bout.

Despite the fact that both Hansen and Jorgensen saw Hansen as the favorite in the fight when it was first announced, Bodog has tapped Jorgensen as the favorite at -230, with Hansen at +155. Looks like the oddsmakers are putting a lot of stock in the training he has received from noted boxing trainer Poul Duville and saying it will give him the ability to outfight the scrappy and fit Hansen.

Bodog is also offering odds of the match finishing as a draw at +1000. To see the latest odds and place your wagers head over to the Bodog Sportsbook and check out the Gus vs. Theo boxing prop bets.

The bout takes place on the final day of the EPT Scandinavian Open, February 21, at the KB Hallen Concert Hall and Sports Centre and will be recorded and shown as one of the debut videos on Hansen's new online TV channel GusHansenTV.com.

If you want to travel to Denmark and play in the EPT Scandinavian Open and see the fight, then qualify online for the EPT through Bodog Poker's Flight Club promotion and play for a chance to take a trip to Copenhagen.

Thanks to the guys over at Wicked Chops Poker for finding out this peice of solid gold "poker" news. Apparently, Danish poker pros Gus Hansen and Theo Jorgensen are set to battle it out in a boxing ring in Copenhagen on February 21. The bout will take place in front of a live audience and Jorgensen will receive $35k if he wins while Hansen will get $25k if he manages to lay out Jorgensen.

Go here to check out the video of Jorgensen training for the bout with expert boxing instructor Poul Duville. The video looks like it will be one of the debut peices to go up on Hansen's new online TV site when it debuts on the same day as the bout.

Let us know your thoughts on who could come out on top in this match and maybe we can convince *someone* to post some odds on this fight to make it a little more fun, and possibly profitable, for all of us.

If you want to travel to Denmark and play in the EPT Scandinavian Open, then qualify online for the EPT through Bodog Poker's Flight Club promotion and play for a chance to take a trip to Copenhagen. The fight takes place on the final day of the EPT event, so you may even get to see this in person. If you do you will have used a a little Flight Club qualifier to see a little "Fight Club" action. Get it? See what we did there?
