The Florida Gators have looked very mortal of late, winning their past three games by 10 points or less (1-2 ATS) but they still are -14 1/2 on Bodog’s college football odds for Saturday’s game in Jacksonville with rival Georgia.

The Dawgs also have the benefit of coming off a bye week. All-time in this rivalry, Georgia is 3-2 vs. Florida when coming off a bye week, and the Bulldogs’ most recent win against UF, in 2007, followed a UGA open date. Under Mark Richt, Georgia is 11-3 after bye weeks. But the Bulldogs are unranked in this game for the first time in 13 years, and UF was won eight of the 13 meetings in which it was ranked and Georgia was unranked. And Florida has won 16 of the past 19 overall in the series.

Gators star Tim Tebow has been struggling of late, and the Gators have scored touchdowns in just two of their past 15 trips inside the 20. But with one more rushing TD, Tebow (49 career rushing TDs) will break the tie with former Georgia RB Herschel Walker for the most career rushing touchdowns in the SEC. And you know Tebow would love to do it in his final college game in Jacksonville, his hometown.

When deciding which way to go with the college football odds on this game, the key likely will be whether Georgia can run the ball and force turnovers. However, the Dawgs are last in the SEC in rushing yards per game and rushing TDs. Under Urban Meyer, the Gators are 2-4 when they’ve been outrushed. But this year’s defense is allowing just 2.9 yards per carry and leads the nation in total defense. Georgia has only six takeaways this year, tied for worst in the FBS.

The Dawgs are 6-1 when playing the defending national champion, including wins over Florida in 2007 and 1997.

There is no doubt the defending national champion Florida Gators will enter the 2009 college football season as the team to beat not just in the SEC but in the country – and they are 2/1 odds on Bodog to repeat. The Gators bring back the entire defense that befuddled Sam Bradford and Oklahoma in the BCS title game and also bring back two-time Heisman finalist Tim Tebow at quarterback. All they really lost was Percy Harvin.

But I am here to tell you that these Gators simply will not go unbeaten season (that's not to say they won't play in another national title game with just one loss). Why? History shows that they won't. As dominant as Florida has been in the SEC, UF hasn't gone unbeaten in conference play since 1996, when Steve Spurrier and Danny Wuerffel led the school to its first national title.

In 2007, the year following Urban Meyer's first title, the Gators lost three times in the SEC. Since the 2000 season, only two schools have gone unbeaten in the nation's best conference during the regular season, and both those schools reside in Alabama (the Tide last year, Auburn in 2004).

So who will get the Gators this year? Here's a quick rundown of UF's SEC schedule:

Sept. 19 vs. Tennessee – What's less than zero? That's the chances of the Vols in this game. Meyer will want to hang at least 50 on Lane Kiffin, who has thrown down the gauntlet with Florida and been talking trash since getting hired. He'll pay for that in Year 1.

Sept. 26 at Kentucky – All the Gators did last year was beat the Wildcats 63-5, taking a 28-0 lead before Kentucky even had a first down. Is UK 58 points better? Nope, this will be Florida's 23rd straight win in the series.

Oct. 10 at LSU – This might be the only game in which Florida is not favored in 2009. The Tigers welcome back 13 starters from 2008, and that defense that struggled so much during the season looked back to LSU standards in a 38-3 rout of Georgia Tech in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl. However, UF has a week off prior to this game to prepare, while the Tigers have a tough matchup at Georgia the week previous to this one. I think UF ekes this one out.

Oct. 17 vs. Arkansas – It's at home where the Gators tend to play down to an inferior opponent once a year. It happened last year in the loss to Ole Miss, happened in 2007 in a loss to Auburn. It nearly happened in 2006 against South Carolina – only a blocked kick saved the Gators in Steve Spurrier's return to Gainesville. I think this is the trap game of the year for Florida, as the Hogs should be much better in the second year of Bobby Petrino's tenure.

Oct. 24 at Mississippi State – This one has the potential to be a troublesome sandwich game for UF, a road tilt at MSU and new head coach Dan Mullen, who happens to be the Gators' former offensive coordinator. Plus the Gators have their annual huge rivalry game with Georgia the following week, so they better not look past these Bulldogs.

Oct. 31 vs. Georgia (in Jacksonville) – Georgia has to replace both Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno and is likely to take a step back this year. Meyer will always have his team ready to beat up on Mark Richt.

Nov. 7 vs. Vanderbilt – This will be Florida's 19th straight win in the series. No question.

Nov. 14 at South Carolina – The Gamecocks really haven't been close to Florida since that near-miss in 2006. Hard to see this changing with UF having a bye week following this one (OK, it's a game against Florida International).

So that summarizes Florida's 2009 SEC schedule. This incredibly tough, deep conference has gotten the Gators at least once for 12 years straight, and I forecast that to be 13 in 2009. Although if the Florida can get through October unbeaten, I'll be preparing to eat some crow.

The BCS has a dream meeting of superstar quarterbacks and high-powered offenses when the Florida Gators and Oklahoma Sooners meet.

Florida won its final nine games and knocked off then-No. 1 Alabama in the SEC championship game as it earned a chance to play for another BCS title.

The 5-point favored Gators may boast the best leader in the nation in Tim Tebow. He put together another excellent season throwing for 2,515 yards, 28 touchdowns, and just two interceptions. He also rushed for 682 yards and 12 TDs.

Florida should gain an edge from what could resemble a home crowd for them at Dolphin Stadium.

The decisive factor in this game will be Florida's defense. The Gators were fifth in the country with 12.8 points allowed per game, second with 24 interceptions, and tied for eighth with 279.3 yards a contest.

Still craving more college football? The Buffalo Bulls and the Connecticut Huskies are currently in action at Rogers Centre in today's only bowl game: the International Bowl. The Fiesta Bowl goes down on Jan. 5 and the GMAC Bowl plays out on Jan. 6th. And then there's the FedEX BCS National Championship; the final bowl game of the annual Bowl Championship Series.

This year's Division I matchups are the Florida Gators and the Oklahoma Sooners. The Gators are 5-0 SU in their last five games; while the Sooners are 5-0 ATS in their last five games and 5-0 SU in their last five games. Oddsmakers favor the Gators by -3, but if Oklahoma defensive back Nic Harris has anything to say about it — the game and the championship is theirs for the taking. The Sooners have lost four straight, you see, and losing another showcase game like this one against Florida is simply not an option.

“We’re going to change one major thing and that’s to get a win,” Harris said.

Saturday's college football schedule features a number of key matchups within divisions but also a series of in-state rivalries across the country.

Three games will see top 25-ranked teams from the same state facing off against each other beginning with the University of Florida and Florida State at 3:30.

The No. 4-ranked Gators will hope that quarterback Tim Tebow has a repeat of last year's successful game against these Seminoles.

Later on the Oklahoma Sooners will do battle with the Oklahoma State Cowboys. The Sooners, ranked third in the country, can maintain a tie with Texas and Texas Tech in the South Division with a Saturday win. The Cowboys head into the match ranked 12th.

Just after 7:00 p.m. EST, Oregon State will look to add to their turnaround after starting the season 0-2. Currently locked in for first place in the Pac-10, the Beavers will hope to put it together against the No. 23-ranked Oregon Ducks.

The Gators are 5-0 SU and ATS since their shocking 31-30 loss to visiting Mississippi (+23). Florida QB Tim Tebow has thrown only two picks all year, and his 167.14 passer rating is just a shade behind last year’s Heisman-winning 172.44 rating. However, Florida is more dangerous now that Tebow is spreading the ball around. He’s only rushed 105 times this year for 10 TDs after picking up 23 majors on 210 carries last year.

With ten minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Florida Gators are leading the game with a whopping 41 to 3.

Today, both teams come in having won three straight since their only losses of the season. Now, Formerly known as "The World's Largest Cocktail Party" the latest Florida/Georgia showdown will not only give one team the victory but they will also get the inside track on capturing the SEC East Division and keeping a national title hope alive.

The 6-point favored Gators, however, appear to have some extra motivation working for them. Florida felt disrespected by its archival in last season’s matchup, and the Gators will be looking to avenge that bitter loss to Georgia in Jacksonville.

The Bulldogs defeated Florida 42-30 last year for just their third win in the last 18 meetings. Matthew Stafford was 11-of-18 for 217 yards, a career-high three TDs and one interception in the win for Georgia.

Florida scored with 20 seconds remaining in the first quarter to go up, 7-0, when Percy Harvin went in untouched from 13 yards out on an option pitch from Tim Tebow.

The one thing that was apparent early on in the game has been the intensity of the atmosphere. Florida’s Brandon Spikes hit Knowshon Moreno hard on the first possession.
