USF has played Miami once before (lost) and will again later this year, but this is the first time the program gets a shot at Florida State, which is -14 on Bodog's college football odds.  A win for South Florida would be a potential boon for recruiting in the state.

Unfortunately for the Bulls, they enter Saturday minus their best offensive player, QB Matt Grothe. The career yardage leader in Big East history, Grothe tore his ACL in last week’s game against Charleston Southern, and his career is over. Redshirt freshman B.J. Daniels, who starred at Tallahassee Lincoln High down the road from FSU, gets the call; he has gone 12-for-15 for 179 yards and two TDs with 15 carries for 133 yards and three TDs in relief of Grothe this season.

South Florida also has a star on defense who could start anywhere in defense end George Selvie. The school's first two-time All-American has 26.5 career sacks as part of 62.5 career tackles for losses. USF is 13th in the NCAA in total defense and third against the pass this year, but that means almost nothing considering the Bulls' wins have come against Wofford, Western Kentucky and Charleston Southern – that's two I-AA schools and a Sun Belt team and is easily the worst non-conference schedule of any BCS conference team.

No. 18 FSU, meanwhile, comes in off one of the program's most impressive wins in years, a 54-28 beat down of then-No. 7 BYU. The Seminoles rushed for 313 yards in that one, their best effort on the ground since the 2005 Gator Bowl. In addition, QB Christian Ponder has been tremendous so far this season. On third downs alone, Ponder has completed 65.5 percent of his passes for 263 yards and four touchdowns.

Wisconsin is a typical Big Ten program that thrives on low-scoring games and struggles in shootouts. The Badgers need to keep the scores down to have any shot at returning to the Sweet 16 this season.

After allowing Wake Forest to score 86 points on 49.1 percent from the field, Florida State beat Miami 80-67 Wednesday, then forced 16 turnovers and held Virginia Tech to 42.9 percent shooting in a 67-65 victory Saturday.

Boston College, meanwhile, has lost three of four following a five-game winning streak and is coming off a 69-58 defeat to Miami last Saturday.

Wisconsin did some damage in the weakened Big Ten, posting the No. 25-ranked rushing offense in the FBS at 4.81 yards per attempt. But FSU was a shade better at 4.85 yards per carry, and the ‘Noles also bring a much better run defense to Orlando’s Citrus Bowl than the Badgers.

The pressing question with FSU is its offensive line. But given the overall depth and superiority of the ACC this year, Florida State could be a bargain as a 6-point favorite. Market reports had over 85 percent of bettors riding the Seminoles on Saturday.

Included in the suspension were Taiwan Easterling, Bert Reed and Corey Surrency, who have combined for 51 catches and 722 yards for the Seminoles this season. Also disciplined were redshirted freshman Cameron Wade and unused senior Richard Goodman.

Luckily for Florida State fans however, the team has enjoyed a particularly efficient running game so far this season as they now look to jump ahead of ACC-rival Wake Forest in the win column.

Just last Saturday the Seminoles ran for 266 yards, their forth 200+ game of the season.

The Seminoles are 11-point road favorites for Week 8 against the North Carolina State Wolfpack (2-4 SU, 3-2 ATS), one of the ACC’s basement-dwellers. The Wolfpack are 6-0-1 ATS versus Florida State over the past seven years and won two of the last three games straight up. Both teams were idle last week.

This is NC State’s second season under coach Tom O’Brien. His offensive line is a mess this year, which is killing his power running attack and making it very hard for QB Russell Wilson to move the chains.

Pressley had transferred from El Camino Community College in California and missed the first week of Seminoles practices due to academic issues. Pressley was set to challenge for carries behind starter Antone Smith.
