According to U.K. magazine Female First, troubled singer Amy Winehouse was handpicked by actors George Clooney and Julia Roberts to perform at the Costume Institute Gala Benefit for New York's Metropolian Museum of Art on May 5.

Winehosue was reportedly offered £500,000 for the gig, which Clooney and Roberts are co-chairing.

"Amy was taken aback when she learned that Goerge Clooney and Julia Roberts were after her," a source told Female First. "Their representatives have been phoning her offices and sending dozens of emails to convince her to take part. She's seriously considering their generous offer.

"She hasn't really taken it in – and keeps saying that her life is getting more surreal by the second."

Um, Amy, that's the drugs talkin'.

According to the magazine, the event is being hosted by fashion designer Giorgio Armani, who hopes to work with Winehouse in the near future. "Girogio has made no secret to his friends that he would love to work with Amy," the source continued. "He sees this party as an ideal opportunity to sound her out about future projects together."

Hollywood’s resident jokester is getting headlines for a punchline he’s thrown around about himself. George Clooney is so ambivalent about his chances for victory at this Sunday’s Academy Awards that he’s compared his plight to that of another famous figure in a tough fight.

“For me, it's like being Hillary Clinton,” Clooney told reporters. “If it weren't for Barack Obama, it would have been a very good year.”

Clooney is an avid supporter of Obama, the betting favorite to beat Clinton in the race for the Democratic Party’s nomination for president. The Oscar-winning actor has appeared at rallies to raise funds for the Illinois senator and has mentioned his support of his candidacy many times. Clooney stars in “Michael Clayton” and holds Oscar odds of 19/2 to win Best Actor, making him a long shot.

As Clooney has stated before, the award belongs to Daniel Day-Lewis and Academy Award bettors agree. Day-Lewis is the overwhelming 1/13 favorite to win Best Actor for his performance in “There Will Be Blood”.

What’s up for debate is who Day-Lewis will thank first in his acceptance speech should he indeed win.

Life must be good for Sarah Larson. The 28-year-old former cocktail waitress was treated to a $40,000 hotel suite on Valentine's Day by boyfriend George Clooney. The 46-year-old Oscar nominated actor reportedly spared no expense on a $40,000 suite at the Hugh Hefner Sky Villa at the Playboy Tower in Las Vegas' Palms Casino Resort, according to U.K. tabloid Female First.

According to the magazine, the 9,000 square-foot suite features an indoor waterfall, rotating bed with mirrors on the ceiling, swimming pool, plasma TV, message room, exercise room, sauna, media room and two bedrooms.Wow, is Clooney over-compensating for something?

Clooney also treated Larson to a romantic dinner at Vegas hotspot Nove as well as the Cirque du Soleil show Love at the Mirage Hotel and Casino. Barf.
