Could the biggest prize of the Major League Baseball trade deadline be going to Tampa?

Word from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the Pirates are talking to the Tampa Bay Rays about a deal that would send Jason Bay to the American League. Bay, the 2004 NL Rookie of the Year and All-Star left fielder, is hitting .284 this season with 22 HR and 62 RBI. He's currently pulling in $6 million per season, which could easily be absorbed by the low-cost Rays.

The big question looming is what Tampa is prepared to give up in exchange. Early reports are that Pittsburgh is asking for a top-flight prospect along the lines of David Price, the No. 1 overall selection in the 2007 MLB Entry Draft.

Want to get in on some wagering before all the trade deadline deals are done? Then head on over to the Bodog Sportsbook today for the latest MLB baseball betting lines, odds, props and futures!
