Edwards has admitted to an affair with Hunter while his wife was being treated for cancer, but has in the past, denied the paternity of the child. Edwards claims that the affair ended in 2006 and in the same year, his campaign paid Hunter's video production firm $100,000 for "work" as well as another $14,086 in 2007. The National Enquirer broke the story of Edwards' affair and subsequent love child with Hunter in 2008.

Hunter agreed to testify to a federal grand jury investigating the money paid to her company.

Apparently, John Edwards fessed up to his affair with videographer Rielle Hunter in 2006, just days after he announced his bid to run for presidency. She says she wanted him to drop out of the race to protect their family from the impending media fallout, but stood by his side anyway. Elizabeth writes that the news of her husband's affair made her vomit.

Hunter is a Santa Barbara-based blonde divorcée, who wound up becoming pregnant and having a daughter with Edwards. In the book, although Edwards does not name Hunter by name, she does say that although her life may be tragic, Hunter's is "pathetic." Burn!

One thing he is not owning up to however, is that silly old "love baby" thing. TMZ reports that Edwards claims that he is not the father of Hunter's baby girl because of "timing." Also, if you don't love a person, how can you have a love baby? OK, so he didn't say that, he probably thought it.

Edwards has not taken a paternity test and ABC will broadcast all the dirt tonight on Nightline at 11:35 p.m. ET.

Reportedly, while his wife Elizabeth has been battling cancer, Edwards was out making love babies. The Enquirer claims to have caught Edwards entering a Beverly Hills hotel at 2 a.m. Tuesday morning, July 22nd, to visit his mistress and their love child.

The Enquirer, who claim to have conducted a months-long investigation into the apparently seedy ex-senator, cites that is mistress is a Santa Barbara-based blonde divorcée named Rielle Hunter.

The Enquirer reports: "Senior National Enquirer reporter Alexander Hitchen asked Edwards why he was visiting Rielle and whether he was ready to confirm that he was the father of her baby.

"Shocked to see a reporter, and without saying anything, Edwards ran up the stairs leading from the hotel basement to the lobby. But, spotting a photographer, he doubled back into the basement. As he emerged from the stairwell, reporter Butterfield questioned him about his hookup with Rielle. Edwards did not answer and then ran into a nearby restroom."
