It's Day 2 of the WSOP Omaha Championship and Bodog poker pro David Williams has an average chip chip stack with 85,000.

We watched Williams play some lovely small ball poker when he called the BB and then became the only caller from a large raise form a player in middle position. Heads-up Williams checked the flop of Q-4-7. His opponent bet out and Williams made the call. Turn was 10 and both players checked. the River was an ace and Williams checked and his opponent bet out a pot-sized bet. Williams called and showed A-Q-x-x while his opponent mucked.

Another Bodog player, Magnus Petersson, is in a similar position with around 100,000 in chips.

Magnus is sitting at the same table as poker pro and Omaha guru Josh Arieh who is currently crushing the field with a with a whopping chip lead of 530,000. The only player even close to Arieh is poker pro Eddie Scharf with 334,000.

Arieh has been in command of the lead since late in day 1. There are currently 64 players left from the original field 381. The top 36 spots pay out with first place receiving $859,549.

Barring any unexpectedly long play, the WOSP Omaha Championship will play until the final table is determined tonight. Stay tuned to the Beat to find out who makes the final table and who scoops the WSOP bracelet.

Josh Arieh is best known for two things: playing aggressive poker and winning money. In his latest article, “Keep Your Chin Up in Pot Limit Omaha,” Arieh explains how in Pot Limit Omaha the two go hand-in-hand, more so than in any other kind of poker.

Eventually, every poker player is going to convert over to Pot Limit Omaha for the live game action because of the amount of hands that you are able to play without giving up too much of your edge. If you are to play lots of hands in Holdem, I don't care who you are, you are going to lose. But if you play lots of hands in Omaha, you are really not taking that much of the worst of it. All you are doing is increasing your financial swings, assuming you are able to play well after the flop.

Bodog poker pro Josh Arieh is sitting firmly in the middle of the field during Day 2 of the EPT Grand Final. (Bodog Beat Image)

The two Day 1 flights of the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo are over and the field has now been combined for Day 2 and sitting among those players is Bodog poker pro Josh Arieh.

The tournament drew an incredible 842 players, a solid 136 more than came out last year. This puts the prizepool at an impressive $13.3 million and first place just under $3.2 million, more than $300,000 over what Gavin Griffin took home for winning this tournament last year.

Of those hopefuls that up their monies for a shot at that multi-million dollar first-place prize, only 426 made it through to the next round of play and that battle has already begun in the Salles des Etoiles tournament room at the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel.

Already falling victim in Day 2 so far have been Daniel Negreanu, Patrik Antonius, Juha Helppi, Vicky Coren and apparently a whole load of others as we're already down to 235 players left. Leading the way currently is Norwegian poker pro Johnny Lodden (202,000), followed closely by Luca Pagano (155,000)and Joe Hachem (110,00). Other notables in the field include Marcel Luske (70,000), Mel Judah (68,000), Freddy Deeb (67,000), Barry Greenstein (56,300), Sorel "imper1um" Mizzi (52,550) and Arieh (36,000).

Play will continue through five levels today before the players bag and tag their chips and head out to enjoy the famed Monte Carlo nightlife. Or, they just go to sleep and get ready for the next marathon long day of poker. Losers. Anyway, we're looking at three more full days of poker before we crown the 2008 EPT Grand Final champion, so make sure to keep heading back over here for more live updates.

Poker blogger "Abby17″ collected the $100 bounty put on the head of Bodog poker pro Josh Arieh for the Bodog Poker Blogger Tournament last night. (Bodog Beat Image)

Among the fifty-two poker bloggers who came out last night for the weekly Bodog Poker Blogger Tournament, there was only one that would be able to seize the chance to bust out poker pro Josh Arieh and collect the $100 bounty Bodog put on his head. "Abby17" was that blogger.

"Abby17″ found the chance to send Arieh to the rail early on in the tournament when the two-time WSOP bracelet winner tried to make a move with pocket sevens and "Abby17″ called him down with A-Q for a classic coin-flip situation. The blogger won the race with an ace on the river and received the $100 bounty, sending Arieh packing in 47th place.

With Arieh's chips, "Abby17″ would go on to finish in third place and add $62.40 and T$109 to the bounty for a total winnings of $162.40, plus the tournament credits. Not bad for an average Tuesday night's work.

Here are the full final table placings and payouts:

1. StinkyBritches – $156.00 + T$109
2. TripJax – $104.00 + T$109
3. Abby17 – $62.40 + T$109
4. RecessRampage2 – $52.00 + T$109
5. emptyman – $41.60 + T$109
6. Newinnov – $33.80
7. JL514 – $28.60
8. raisydaisy22 – $23.40
9. TheDutchster – $18.20

In addition to these winners, the five bubble players won their buy-ins to next week's tournament (T$11).

Bodog poker pro Josh Arieh, pictured here with his wife, Angela, took down the $1,000 buy-in Pot Limit Omaha at the Wynn Classic last night. (Image Courtesy of PokerFolio.com)

The Wynn Classic has been going on at the Wynn Casino Hotel in Las Vegas for the past couple of weeks with a series of smaller buy-in events ranging from $300 to $2,000. As the $10,000 buy-in championship event draws closer the buy-ins have increased and so has the interest by high-stakes tournament poker players.

So far, several name players have cashed in these events, like Brandon Cantu (thrice! man, this kid is on a tear), Dutch Boyd (twice), Max "Italian Pirate" Pescatori, Thayer "Thay3r" Rasmussen, Darrell Dicken, Davids Levi and Plastik, Anna "Poker Pixie" Wroblewski and Tom "DonkeyBomber" Schneider, but no big name pro had actually emerged victorious yet. Enter Bodog poker pro Josh Arieh, who last night took down the $1,000 buy-in Pot Limit Holdem event.

Arieh's final table also played host to Ted Lawson (so, add him to the list of pros who have cashed at the Wynn Classic) and James Dunkelburger (no idea who he is, but what a name), but no one was gonna stand in between Josh and the sweet Wynn-shaped trophy and, more importantly, the $59,364 first-place prize.

So, congrats to Josh, although we're pretty sure the Wynn is not Iowa, which is where he promised he would go after the WPT LA Poker Classic if he busted out. You can't blame him though, the Wynn is in Vegas and Iowa is, well, Iowa.

Make sure you get a chance to play some poker in Vegas and go check out Bodog's 2008 WSOP online poker qualifiers.

Looks like Bodog Poker pro Josh Arieh is giving fellow Team Bodog member Evelyn Ng a little bit of a break from the weekly Tournament Leader Board heads-up contests.

The Atlanta resident will be taking on Bodog online poker player and winner of the week of Feb. 4-10, "punisher2802," with $2,000 on the line after Ng won her second match last week. Accumulating enough points to get a shot at Arieh and the $2k propelled "punisher2802″ up to third place on the Monthly TLB for February and up to the eleventh spot on the Yearly TLB.

The match will take place in the Bodog Poker room at 9 p.m. EST tonight.

Get in on some online poker tournament action and work your way up the Bodog weekly tournament leader board and get a free crack at one of Bodog's poker pros and some serious dough.
