With the WPT Festa al Lago wrapped up nice and neat and the poker world on hold until next weekend when the 2009 WSOP Main Event November Nine will play out, the $5,000 Caesars Palace Classic has found itself a nice spot on the calendar to hang out and pull in a decent crowd. All told, 162 players made their contribution to the prizepool.

After eight levels of play during Day 1, which took place yesterday, there are now only 84 players remaining, including Bodog Poker pros David Williams and Justin Bonomo. Bonomo has found himself near the top of the leaderboard with, according to his Twitter (@JustinBonomo), 87,900 in chips, while Williams is just above average with 48,000 in chips, also according to his Twitter (@dwbodogpro). Also among those still in the field are Jimmy Fricke, Theo Tran, Dutch Boyd, Kelly Kim, Toto Leonidas, Brandon Cantu, John Phan, Alan Smurfit, Lee Markholt and a bunch more.

Play resumes at Noon today Vegas time and will continue until the final table is set. Players will all be chasing the $246,928 first-place prize as well as the 2009 Caesars Palace Classic trophy. Stay tuned for more updates and download Bodog Poker to get in on some poker tournament action of your own, or play against either Bonomo or Williams at their own online poker tables.

The WPT Festa al Lago has been drawing a lot of attention over the past couple of days, not for the big-name poker pros that have come out for the event, but for the extended amount of time that those players have been given to buy into the tournament. For the first time in major poker tournament history, entrants could buy their way into the tournament on Day 2, all the way up until Level 9 in fact.

So, with 245 players registering during Day 1 and 30 during Day 2, there was a grand total of 275 players all coughing up $15,000 to play and thereby generating a $4,001,250 prizepool and a $1,218,225 first-place prize. With Day 3 about to kick off at the Bellagio there are 98 players remaining and among those players is Bodog Poker Justin Bonomo. This is how he ended up the day according to his Twitter (and verified by the official chip counts):

197,500 end of day 2. Avg is 160k.

A man of few words that Bonomo. However, there is a video blog that contains more words that will be going up later today.

Anyway, among the top ten in chip counts as the day begins will be Mark Seif (2nd – 473k), Dutch Boyd (3rd – 453k), Chad 'lilholdem954′ Batista (4th – 425k) and David "The Dragon" Pham (7th – 365k). There are many other notable players still in the hunt but we'll wait until the field narrows down some more before listing them all out.

Stay tuned for more impossibly lazy updates from the WPT Festa al Lago and if you want a chance to play in a major international poker tournament, then check out the Bodog Flight Club promotion and it's generous prize packages.

PokerNews.com recently started an interview series called "Off the Felt" that asks poker pros a selection of, shall we say, interesting questions. This time around they took the time to reach out to Bodog Poker pro Justin Bonomo and get his thoughts on everything from his favorite tournament to how he got his nickname.

While those may seem like innocuous questions, how about this sample Q & A:

Would you rather be Manascrewd or drawing dead?

Drawing dead for sure, because there is no false hope if you’re drawing dead.

Now, if any of you know that that means, then congratulations you're a step ahead of us. So, if you want to read more about Justin's thoughts on things like this, then check out the link below.

Team Bodog is known for living the high-roller rock-star lifestyle the world over and that has never been more evident than this past couple of months. The Team Bodog Poker pros – David Williams, Evelyn Ng, Justin Bonomo and Jean-Robert Bellande – have been all over the world, playing in poker tournaments and just generally living it up.

Let's start with DW. In the past month alone, he has been in Cannes, France, to play the Partouche Poker Tour championship event, Barcelona, Spain, to play in the EPT Barcelona event and will now be in London in a few days to play in the WSOP Europe.

Bellande has been playing in the Bellagio poker room for a few weeks building up a bankroll and also made the trip to Cannes with DW for the PPT event. He is now in Cyprus for the WPT Merit Cyprus Championship and, based on his Twitter updates, looks like he could be heading to Tel Aviv any day now.

On the other hand, Bonomo is on this side of the pond and taking a bit of a break from poker. He's been out to concerts (Kings of Leon for one) and to UFC fights. And now, as we speak, he is in Mexico City with some friends to watch Mexico play Honduras in a World Cup qualifier match.

While Evy has been mostly in Vegas, she is moving from her super nice condo poolside at Panorama to a really sick place on the 37th floor at Panorama that has an amazing view of the strip. She's also been playing ridiculous amount of Guitar Hero 5 and the new Rock Band: Beatles and also attended a Red Octane (makers of Guitar Hero) function for the new game DJ Hero.

You can keep up with all of the Bodog Poker pros as they jet-set all over the world on Twitter:

Evy – @evybabee
DW – @dwpoker or @dwbodogpro
Justin – @justinbonomo
Jean-Robert – @brokelivingjrb

Also don't forget to check out their video blogs on the Bodog YouTube channel.

If you want to match your poker skills against them on the virtual felt of the Bodog Poker room, then download Bodog Poker now and play each of them at their own table.

Tonight at 5pm PST / 8pm EST the airing of the ESPN TV coverage of the 2009 WSOP begins, starting with the 40th Anniversary $40,000 No Limit Hold'em event. Tonight also begins our weekly ritual of watching that ESPN coverage, squinting into the background and yelling "that was us … maybe" at the TV if we spot someone familiar walking by.

Anyway, this inaugural Anniversary event drew out one of the more talented fields of the entire 2009 WSOP and definitely resulted in the most compelling final table. At that final table were 2004 WSOP Main Event champion Greg Raymer, young guns Isaac Haxton and Lex Veldhuis, multiple WSOP bracelet winner Vitaly Lunkin and Bodog Poker pro Justin Bonomo.

If you followed along with our 2009 WSOP live updates over the summer then you already know what happens, if not…

**SPOILER ALERT**

Bonomo goes on to place fifth, walking away with $413,166 in prize money. Raymer, Haxton and Lunkin battle it out three-handed for quite some time before Raymer exits in third for $774,927. Haxton goes into the heads up match against Lunkin with a 2 to 1 chip lead, loses that lead seven hands later, regains the lead an hour later, loses it again and eventually succumbs to Lunkin. Haxton receives $1,168,566 for second place and Lunkin gets $1,891,012 for the victory.

**END SPOILER**

The event drew out 389 entrants, generating an impressive prizepool. Bonomo held the lead going into the final table and built that into a 3 to 1 chip lead over "Mumtum23" as heads-up play started. A few hands later, a turned flush sealed the tournament and a very nice payday for Bonomo.

Yes, that is a picture from the WSOP, but that's because we're at the Rio sweating out the drive to the November Nine. However, over at the Bellagio, the WPT Bellagio Cup V is moving into Day 2 and Bodog Poker pro Justin Bonomo is sitting pretty near the top of the leaderboard.

The $15,000 buy-in tournament drew out 268 players, most of whom busted out of the WSOP and walked over to the Bellagio and dropped down the money to take a seat. Off the top of our heads we can name David Benyamine, Bertrand "elKy" Grospellier, Prahlad Friedman and Joe Serock as players who ran deep in the 2009 WSOP Main Event and are now playing in this event just days, or even hours, later.

There are currently 218 players remaining with Alec Torelli as the chip leader with 308,675. Behind him are Cornel Cimpan (285,000), Michael Mizrachi (182,700) and Bonomo (175,675), all in the top ten. Other notables in the top half of the standings include Tim Phan, the aforemention Grospellier, Isaac Haxton, Hoyt Corkins, Jeff Madsen and several others.

They will play a grand total of five levels today and then call it quits (lucky, we'll be at the WSOP until at least 4am by all estimates). Check out the WPT live updates crew for all of your tournament news and if you want to qualify for as little as $1 to play in a WPT even yourself, then check out the Bodog Flight Club promotion.

With just a few minutes left in the last level of the night (short day!!!) here on Day 2B of the 2009 WSOP Main Event, Bodog Poker pro Justin Bonomo has made a surge up the leaderboard to get up to 225,000 in chips. Here are the details from his own mouth:

Raised aces. Both blinds called. SB led small all 3 streets. Bb called once. I called down on scary board but held. 225k now.

Bonomo's teammate Jean Robert Bellande took a bit of a downswing earlier this evening back has climbed up out of his hole back up to 165,000.

There are still an astounding 1,486 players left out of the starting 2,924 thanks to the sellout situation from Day 1D, so there is still quite a ways to go, but this is a great way to start for both of them.

Notable chip leaders at the moment include Phil Ivey, who is looking bulletproof at the moment, Kevin 'BeL0WaB0Ve' Saul, Kenny Tran, David Benyamine and Josh Arieh.

We have some disappointing news. Tomorrow is a day off, which means no news from us from the WSOP. We know, don't cry, you'll only make us feel worse. Ok, fine, maybe we'll update you from the media tournament. Happy? (So selfish.)

Anyway, there is still plenty to do with the Bodog Mini Poker Series going on and everything, so try to occupy your time and give us a day to recover and come back better than ever for Day 3. And by "recover," we mean play poker and go to the last shindig of the WSOP party season, leaving us exhausted for Day 3.

A little while ago we took a stroll by Bodog Poker pro Jean Robert Bellande at his table during Day 2B of the 2009 WSOP Main Event and watched him take down two consecutive huge pots, eliminating a tablemate on the second.

Bellande has grown his stack in this fashion all day and has jumped from his starting stack of 51,000 up to 120,000 at the dinner break. He is running good and in one of the hands we watched he managed to get a player to call all-in on the river by representing weakness with an overbet, only to turn over trip sixes to beat out his opponent's two-pair, with three hearts showing on the board. Yeh, he's running good right now.

Not to be left out, Bodog Poker pro Justin Bonomo is also climbing the lederboard. He is currently at 174,000 at the break, up from the 103,000 he started the day with. Bonomo has looked comfortable over the past two days of play and, when we spoke with him, felt he was playing well and making good decisions. You can't ask for more than that.

Other notable players up near the chip leaders include Josh Arieh, Jeff Lisandro, Antonio Esfandiari, Kenny Tran, David Benyamine, Hevad Khan, Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth and 2008 November Nine member Dennis Phillips.

Stay tuned for more WSOP live updates and don't forget that the Bodog Mini Poker Series is running during the entirety of the 2009 WSOP and is one of the first events to award a seat to the 2010 WSOP Main Event.
