Despite spending two days on crutches after suffering a bruised left knee, Smith played and finished with 24 points and 11 rebounds in Tennessee's 86-77 league-opening victory at Georgia on Saturday.

Tennessee will try for its 17th consecutive SEC home victory. The last loss came 80-78 to Kentucky on March 1, 2006. That game followed a loss to Arkansas, marking the last time the Vols dropped consecutive home games.

Even though the Wildcats are 0-3 versus ranked opponents this season, these teams have split the last two season series, with the home team winning every contest. Kentucky had won four in a row at Thompson-Boling prior to 2006-07.

The Wildcats are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings. Get your college basketball odds with Bodog to get in on all the action.

The hottest college football team in the nation has to be the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide (5-0 SU, 4-1 ATS). They’re rocketing up the charts after rolling through Arkansas (-8) and Georgia (+6.5) on the road. Nick Saban has turned this team around much more quickly than expected. He took them to the Independence Bowl last year after leaving the Miami Dolphins and drawing the ire of the press. Now the Tide are pointed at the BCS title game.

That isn’t keeping people from betting on the Kentucky Wildcats as 16-point underdogs in Saturday’s matchup at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Kentucky is playing very good football at 4-0 SU (2-1 ATS), including a 27-2 upset of Louisville (-3.5) to start the season. The Wildcats are doing it the boring way with defense and running. Alabama certainly has the talent to win, but covering a big spread in these conditions is difficult. Get all your NCAA College Football Odds in the Bodog Sportsbook today!

It's been a bad day for collegiate quarterbacks. Earlier, we reported that Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen is under investigation for underage drinking. Now, we learn that Kentucky Wildcats QB Curtis Pulley has been kicked off the team for violating team rules.

Head coach Rich Brooks made the announcement during the Wildcats' preseason media day. While Pulley was already walking a tight rope with traffic and marijuana possession charges accrued over the summer, he was believed to have a shot at the starting job – providing he could keep a clean sheet. He didn't, and the job will now likely fall to sophomore Mike Hartline, who was competing with Pulley to replace graduated Andre Woodson.

Who will win the 2009 BCS National Championship? Can Kentucky turn the trick without Pulley at the helm? Currently, the Wildcats are 100/1 to win it all – get all your football futures betting in the Bodog Sportsbook today!

The University of Kentucky is one helluva basketball school. Just not this year. The Wildcats, along with first-year coach Billy Gillespie, were on the wrong end of a fairly close one today in Anaheim. Their opponents, the Marquette Golden Eages, finally escaped the first round of the NCAA tournament with a 74-66 victory.

Before the game, it appeared the Kentucky tradition might play a role in intimidating the team that was actually favored by six points.

“I mean, Kentucky?” Marquette guard Dominic James said. “I’ve never heard of Kentucky being the underdog. They’re one of the most prestigious schools in basketball.”

But tradition, it turned out, wasn't enough. Both James and teammate Wesley Matthews clutched up late for Marquette at the free throw line. James finished 8-for-10 from the charity stripe; Matthews was 9-for-10, including two with just seconds left to cover the spread.

Jerel McNeal led the Golden Eagles with 20 points.

Joe Crawford was huge in a losing effort for Kentucky with 35 points. Ramel Bradley added 19.

But perhaps the most telling statistic was this: the Wildcats had just four players who scored at least a point; the Golden Eagles had nine. Bit of a balance discrepancy there.

Marquette moves on to play the winner of the smart kids game, Stanford (-15) versus Cornell.

Stay tuned for all your NCAA men's tournament first round results and recaps!
