In an American League matchup the Boston Red Sox plastered the Baltimore Orioles 12-1, thanks largely in part, but not exclusively, to a Kevin Youkilis grand slam in the bottom of the third inning.

The four-run blast gave the 29-year-old first basemen most of his career-high six RBI, but the night belonged to no one player in particular.

Though if you had to make a case for one, it could very well be starting pitcher Tim Wakefield who lasted seven innings allowing just two Orioles hits and striking out six.

Both J.D. Drew and Manny Ramirez joined Youkilis in the home run column, with solo shots each in the first inning.

The seven-run third inning seemed to seal the deal for the Red Sox giving them the 9-1 advantage at the time which they would slowly add to over the course of the rest of the game.

Elsewhere in baseball, Rich Harden struck out 10 in his first five innings as a Chicago Cub, but the bullpen nearly blew a 7-0 lead.

The Cubs held on for an 11-10 win in the 11th inning.

In Cincinnati, Adam Dunn homered twice and drove in four as his Reds took down the Milwaukee Brewers.
