The 2.5-point favored Tigers will be one of the first teams on the court when the Big Dance starts on Thursday, going up against the Butler Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs earned a third consecutive invitation to the tournament and considering they did it with such a young roster suggests they’re going to continue to do so.

But can Butler make the same impact as it has the past two seasons?

Matt Howard and Gordon Hayward have performed well all season, but the Bulldogs could be facing an early exit if their freshman backcourt doesn’t deliver.

For LSU, Tasmin Mitchell and Marcus Thornton are talented enough to carry the team for one tournament game, but lack of quality depth could be a concern.

The No. 6 LSU Tigers (3-0 SU, 1-1 ATS) were supposed to be in trouble this year with QB Matt Flynn in the NFL and QB Ryan Perrilloux transferring to Jacksonville State. But Jarrett Lee (11-for-22, two TDs and a pick) was good enough to win at Auburn, and LSU is a monster 24.5-point favorite this Saturday night against the visiting Mississippi State Bulldogs (1-3 SU, 1-2 ATS).

The Tigers are on a 10-1 ATS rampage in their annual battle with the Bulldogs, with the last four meetings going over. The only thing that might get Miss State to the pay window this year is the clock-chewing LSU running game – the Tigers are No. 8 in the FBS at 6.23 yards per carry. But LSU also throws the ball enough to keep the chains moving quickly. They won last year’s game 45-0 to squeak past the total of 44.5 points; they’ll cover for us again on ESPN2. Get all your NCAA College Football Odds in the Bodog Sportsbook today!

There's no questioning Ryan Perrilloux's talent. His intelligence, however, doesn't appear that remarkable.

Today, LSU Tigers coach Les Miles made the announcement by press release that his quarterback has been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules.

Perrilloux has already been suspended from the football team twice in his short college career, once for allegedly being involved in a bar fight, the other for using his brother's ID to get into a casino.

With Perrilloux slated to take over for the departed Matt Flynn, junior Andrew Hatch now moves to the top of the QB depth chart for LSU.

LSU is getting 11/1 odds to win the 2009 BCS National Championship.
