Certainly Utah's season isn't over in the wake of last week's loss at Oregon, but the nation's longest winning streak was put to an end, as were the Utes' chances of crashing the national championship game. Thus it will be interesting to see how they respond this week in what looks like a letdown game with conference play and a tough game at Colorado State coming up next week. Utah is -14 this week on Bodog's college football odds.

Louisville seems unlikely to end Utah's 12-game home winning streak on Saturday, but will the Cards cover? Not if they don't solve their red zone woes – they are tied for 92nd in Division I in red-zone efficiency, scoring points on 10 of 14 trips. Only five of those have been touchdowns. And it's not like Louisville has faced tough competition so far, having beaten Indiana State and lost to Kentucky.

Will the altitude affect the Cards this week? Not if you listen to coach Steve Kragthorpe, who grew up in Utah and had a great quote on the altitude: "We're not freaking going to play on Mount Everest here. We're going to 4,200 feet. It's not that big of a deal."

Kragthorpe, by the way, is 0-2 in his collegiate coaching career against the Utes, with his Tulsa team falling in 2006 and his Louisville team doing the same the next year.

Look for UL to try and focus on the running game to start out. Last year, the Utes allowed just one team to crack 200 yards on the ground, but this year Utah State (221) and Oregon (217) already have surpassed that mark — the Utes rank just 78th nationally against the run. Louisville averages 154.5 yards on the ground behind sophomore Victor Anderson (6.2 yards per carry, three TDs).

Bet on college football at Bodog!
Don't have an account? Join Bodog now.

The Cards will be without a key player on defense this week. Starting safety Terrence Simien is out indefinitely with a lacerated kidney suffered against Kentucky. He had an interception and fumble recovery and was tied for third on the team with 10 tackles. Louisville's defense gives up just 93.5 yards per game on the ground.

Utah is one of the better running teams in the country behind Matt Asiata, who leads the Mountain West Conference in rushing. He was limited last week with a shoulder injury but should be back to around 85-90 percent health this week, according to coach Kyle Whittingham. In addition, Whittingham said this week that he wants QB Terrance Cain to stretch the field more. Cain has just 10 passes of more than 20 yards this season and had just two last week in the loss to Oregon.

When doing your football betting at Bodog this week, know that Utah is unbeaten all-time against current members of the Big East at 6-0, including 3-0 against Louisville.

The Spartans won as 7-point underdogs, while the final score played under the posted total of 139. MSU is now 6-1 ATS over their last seven games.

Goran Suton had 19 points and 10 rebounds as the second-seeded Spartans played the pace game to perfection and reached their fifth Final Four in 11 years.

The Cardinals never figured it out on Sunday, and never managed to produce one of those trademark scoring runs. Earl Clark led Louisville with 19 points, but the only other player to reach double figures was backup guard Preston Knowles.

The Spartans will play the Connecticut Huskies on Saturday at Ford Field in Detroit. An expected crowd of 72,000 should give the underdog Spartans an edge.
The Morehead State Eagles played their way into the first round of the NCAA tournament by beating Alabama State in the opener on Tuesday, setting up another game with the top-seeded Louisville Cardinals. No top seed has ever lost to a No. 16.

Even worse, no Morehead team has beaten the Cardinals in 52 years.

The last dozen times they’ve played, Louisville has won by an average of 32 points. There was a 107-71 win in 1993, a 119-61 win in 1995, and a 104-40 win in 2004. When they played at Freedom Hall on Nov. 22,

Louisville pulled away to a 79-41 victory even though the Cardinals were a work in progress. So it’s not like the 21-point underdog Eagles don’t know what they’re up against.

Will this be the game the Eagles finally win? Highly unlikely, and if they were to score a victory it would be one of the biggest upsets ever.
If the stakes are not already raised enough, winning the conference could very well earn the champ a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tourney.

The Cardinals have played like the road is their home in the conference this season, and are nearly perfect against unranked conference teams in recent years. Louisville has won 16 of its last 17 games against unranked conference opponents. West Virginia comes into the contest unranked, but can't be overlooked with a record of 21-9.

The Cardinals are 7-1 against Big East teams this season, with the only upset being a loss at Notre Dame.
Can the Mountaineers pull off the upset in their final regular season game on Senior Day?

The Cardinals can greatly improve their odds to do so with a victory in their home finale. Louisville looks to move into a tie atop the conference with Connecticut as it goes for its sixth straight win in a matchup with the Seton Hall Pirates tonight.

Even if Louisville wins this one, the race could be over for the Cardinals by game time Saturday, as the Huskies play at noon while Louisville takes on West Virginia that night.

Seton Hall, which has dropped four of five after winning five in a row, looks for its first win in three trips toFreedom Hall. The Pirates lost 86-71 in their last visit March 4, 2007.

But give the Marquette Golden Eagles (23-5 SU, 11-1-1 ATS) some credit for hanging in there Wednesday night against UConn.

Marquette lost starting point guard Dominic James to a broken left foot after just four minutes of action, then stuck around against the Huskies before eventually losing the game 93-82 as 1.5-point home faves.

The depth of the Golden Eagles will be tested on Sunday when they travel to Freedom Hall to face the Louisville Cardinals (22-5 SU, 17-10 ATS). The Cards are well rested after beating Georgetown 76-58 on Monday as a 1-point road fave. Louisville is 5-1 SU and ATS over the past six games, and the over has rattled off five paydays in a row despite the defensive prowess of the Cards. They hold their opponents to 31 percent from behind the arc – bad news for undersized and shorthanded Marquette.

Connecticut is likely to move into the top spot in the AP Top 25 for the first time since the 2005-06 season. UConn won't have much time to enjoy it as they head to Louisville, who has also won nine in a row (7-1 ATS in their last eight).

UConn is 4-2 all-time against Louisville and won 69-67 at home in the teams' only meeting last season. The schools have split two games played at Freedom Hall.

A.J. Price, who is averaging 19.2 points in his last five games overall, had 20 in last season's win over Louisville.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights started the year with five straight FBS losses, then went on a 5-0 tear (4-1 ATS) to sit at 6-5 SU and 6-4 ATS on the season. A victory Thursday night over the slumping Louisville Cardinals (5-6 SU, 4-6 ATS) would lock down a bowl invitation for Rutgers. The Cards, 0-4 SU and ATS in November, also need a win to get into the postseason.

ESPN has this Big East battle at 7:30 p.m. Eastern; we’ll have live betting on tap for our customers. Rutgers is a 10.5-point home chalk (-105) and a very popular pick among the betting public. Coach Mike Teel has successfully made the transition from last year’s run-based approach with Ray Rice to a strong passing attack. Louisville’s offense is No. 58 in the nation at 5.4 yards per play, half-a-yard less than the Knights.

Friday afternoon’s UConn-Louisville matchup will shine some light on the Big East; ESPN2 will have their cameras set up at Cardinal Stadium on what should be a beautiful, sunny day. Temperatures in Louisville are expected to reach 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

We’ll probably see a lot of running. The Huskies (4-0 SU, 1-2 ATS) are sixth in the nation with 279.5 rushing yards per game. The Cards (2-1 SU, 1-1 ATS) are No. 27 in that category at 196.7 yards per game, but the Louisville ground game has really taken off since losing the opener to Kentucky. Victor Anderson and Brock Bolen combined for 280 yards in last week’s 38-29 upset over Kansas State (-5.5 on the road).

The freshest lines are available right here. Louisville is getting a lot of love from bettors – could be those six interceptions UConn QB Tyler Lorenzen has thrown. Personally, I like the under on a warm day with all that running around. Get all your NCAA College Football Picks in the Bodog Sportsbook today!

The Kansas State Wildcats must feel pretty good about themselves. They’re 2-0 to start the season, dumping Montana State 69-10 in the opener and throwing a 45-6 wet blanket over North Texas (+29.5) in Week 2. But Montana State is in the FCS, and North Texas is one of the worst teams in the FBS. What can K-State do against Louisville?

The Cardinals (1-1 SU, 0-1 ATS) aren’t getting a lot of respect in this contest after losing 27-2 to Kentucky (+3.5) in the season opener. I like this matchup in particular because I believe the Cards are in fact the better team, and they get to play at home. The Louisville defense was strong against Kentucky; the offense will develop on the fly under first-year coordinator Jeff Brohm. Meanwhile, nobody on K-State has broken a sweat. That all changes Wednesday night.
