The Los Angeles Dodgers have the best record in baseball and a comfortable lead in the NL West, but it’s been nearly two months since they won four straight games.

They can end that drought and become the first team in the majors to 60 wins today against the Cincinnati Reds, who haven’t won at Dodger Stadium since 2005.

The current three-game run has boosted their division lead to eight games over second-place Colorado.

The streak has a good chance to continue if Randy Wolf can provide another quality start, something the lefthander has given the Dodgers in each of his last four outings.

Wolf has often looked sharp against the Reds, going 8-2 with a 3.15 ERA in 15 career starts.

The -200 favored Dodgers have never faced Cincinnati’s Homer Bailey, who will get the ball today.

The Reds are 3-18 against the Dodgers overall since the start of 2006.

Manny Ramirez and the major league-best Los Angeles Dodgers will try to ignore all the added attention of fans and media tonight when they open a three-game set with the struggling New York Mets.

While Ramirez received a mixed reaction Friday upon his return from a 50-game drug suspension, with many Dodger fans having been in attendance, he’ll likely find a much different welcoming in his first game at Citi Field.

Clayton Kershaw has allowed just two runs in his last four starts for L.A., while striking out 26 in 23 2-3 innings.

Kershaw lasted just 3 2-3 innings in his only start against New York, giving up four runs and five hits in a 9-5 win on May 30, 2008.

The +125 underdog Mets have won only twice in their last 10 games, and are coming off a three-game sweep to NL East-leading Philadelphia as they were outscored 13-3.

He's back

Manny Ramirez returns after serving a 50-game suspension for violating baseball's drug policy tonight in the opener of a three-game road series against the San Diego Padres.

Los Angeles was 21-8 and held a 6 1/2-game lead in the NL West at the time of Manny's suspension. The Dodgers, though, didn't suffer without Ramirez, going 29-21 and increasing their division lead to 7 1/2 games.

Ramirez is batting .227 with a homer and four RBI this season against San Diego.

Chad Gaudin will start for the Padres and has only allowed five earned runs while striking out 28 over his last three starts.

Los Angeles' Hiroki Kuroda takes the mound after giving up four runs and eight hits in 6 1-3 innings of a 4-2 loss to Seattle on Sunday.

The Dodgers are listed as -145 favorites in this one.

If you are a backer of the Los Angeles Dodgers (83-75, -4.18 units) you can almost taste the division crown today. The Dodgers downed the San Diego Padres (61-97, -36.91 units) 12-4 Wednesday night to cut their magic number to clinch the National League West to one. L.A. has a four-game lead over the Arizona Diamondbacks (79-79, -17.24 units) and clinched no worse than a tie for the West title. Arizona lost its second consecutive game to St. Louis, 4-2.

The Dodgers could wrap it up without even playing today, if the D-Backs lose this afternoon. Otherwise L.A. will have a chance of their own tonight against Jake Peavy, who is 3-0 with a 1.71 ERA against the Dodgers in 2008.

The Rockies (73-85, -18.99 units) look to complete a three-game road sweep of the Giants (70-88, -4.22 units), who hand the ball to Barry Zito tonight. Zito will be looking to win his third straight decision, while trying to cool off a Rockies team that put up 18 hits in a 15-6 win on Wednesday.
Thanks to a brilliant pair of home runs from Manny Ramirez the Los Angeles Dodgers can say goodbye to a frustrating eight-game losing skid.

With the 6-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks the Dodgers can forget about their recent struggles as they fight to steal a playoff berth from the very team they defeated.

On the evening Ramirez went 4-5 at the plate including the aforementioned dingers, his 500th career double, and a single to boot while starting pitcher Chad Billingsley picked up the win.

Elsewhere in major league action Dustin Pedroia put together his second consecutive 4-4 night as the Boston Red Sox defeated the Chicago White Sox.

In National League action, the Philadelphia Phillies gained one game on the division-leading New York Mets as they completed a 4-3 victory over the Florida Marlins.

In the American League Central hunt both the Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins dropped games on the day.
