No venue has given Penn State coach Joe Paterno more trouble in his illustrious career than the Big House in Ann Arbor as the Nittany Lions are 2-5 there all-time and haven’t won at Michigan since 1996 (five straight losses). In addition, UM is 7-3 against Penn State teams ranked in the top 15 – yet PSU is still -4½ on Bodog’s college football odds for Saturday’s game.

Michigan essentially had a bye last week, trouncing FCS school Delaware State 63-6. Penn State looked very impressive on defense last week, holding Minnesota to 138 total yards in a 20-0 win. The Nittany Lions have won three Big Ten games in a row by a combined 107-20 and haven’t allowed a first-half touchdown yet this season – the only team in the country to do that.

But Penn State also has yet to face an offense this season as good as Michigan’s, which leads the Big Ten in scoring and rushing and is second in total offense. The Nittany Lions lead the conference in total offense and total defense. That defense could cause problems for Michigan freshman QBs Tate Forcier and Denard Robinson. But I would caution you, when looking at the football odds for this game, that PSU also has yet to face a team that was ranked at the time and in fact has played one of the country’s worst schedules by a BCS school outside of its loss to now No. 7 Iowa.

There is a key injury for the Nittany Lions to consider when placing your college football bets. Sophomore RB Stephfon Green, a threat to score every time he touches the ball, will miss the game with an ankle injury. The Lions’ No. 2 back has rushed for 248 yards (5.1 per carry) and three TDs this season.

The Penn State Nittany Lions (14-5 SU, 8-3-1 ATS) didn’t get a single vote. But Michigan had better watch out when these two Big Ten teams clash on Tuesday.

The Wolverines are rebuilding quite nicely in their second year under coach John Beilein. His 1-3-1 zone defense, however, is susceptible to the 3-pointer, and that’s Penn State’s strength. The Lions hit 38.7 percent of their trey attempts, led by guards Stanley Pringle (51.4 percent) and Talor Battle (41.2 percent).

Michigan appears to be overvalued at this point after consecutive losses to Illinois (-7 at home) and Ohio State (+5.5 on the road). The Wolverines are also just 0-2-1 ATS on the road this year; the Lions are 3-1-1 ATS at home, including their upset victory over Purdue (-2.5).

The bubble has burst on the Illinois Fighting Illini (2-2 SU, 1-2 ATS). After narrowly beating UL-Lafayette (+25) by a field goal, Illinois lost its Big Ten opener at Penn State, 38-24. The Illini players and fans probably won’t take solace from cashing in as 15-point underdogs.

Michigan (2-2 SU, 1-3 ATS) is also coming off its first payday of the season, but it comes in happier circumstances: a 27-25 win over Wisconsin (-4.5). Now the Wolverines are laying three points in Saturday’s matchup with Illinois at the Big House.

The final score of the Wolverines-Badgers game disguises the fact that Michigan went into the locker room down 19-0. It’ll take more than two good quarters to prove that Michigan is picking up coach Rich Rodriguez’ spread offense, not to mention capable of hanging onto the football. West Virginia was 3-8 (4-7 ATS) during Rodriguez’ 2001 debut in Morgantown. Get all your NCAA College Football Odds in the Bodog Sportsbook today!

The Big Ten has taken its lumps in non-conference play. But the No. 8 Wisconsin Badgers have thrived at 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS. They’ll be the favorites going into Ann Arbor, where they haven’t won since 1994, to face the rebuilding Michigan Wolverines (1-2 SU, 0-3 ATS).

The Wolverines have been pretty bad this year. They lost at home to Utah (+3) and on the road to Notre Dame (+1), and they only scored 16 points at the Big House against Miami-Ohio (+14.5). Rich Rodriguez still has a decent defense to work with, but his offense is in tatters without the likes of Chad Henne, Mike Hart and Mario Manningham.

Wisconsin is a small-market team that has made good money for football and basketball handicappers. The Badgers do it with their usual dull and efficient combination of defense and running. Meanwhile, the Wolverines have committed nine turnovers, worst in the Big Ten. Wisconsin all the way.
Well, that was boring. Wiconsin (-13) and Michigan combined for a whopping 85 points in the Badgers' 51-34 victory over the Wolverines on Friday in Indianapolis. In fact, it was the lowest-scoring game in Big Ten tourney history.

And heeeeeeeere comes the sarcasm: Wisconsin's Joe Krabbenhoft led all scorers with a sizzling 12-point performance while teammate Michael Flowers poured in an almost-as-impressive 11.

Other impressive statistics from the game:

Wisconsin's Brian Butch was 0-for-7 from the field

Michigan's Manny Harris was 1-for-12

Michigan shot 20 percent (10-for-50)

Wisconsin shot 34 percent (17-for-50)

Other Big Tournament Scores and Matchups:

Ohio State (+5) leads Michigan State 22-19 with 6:24 remaining in the first half

Illinois (+4.5) vs. Purdue, 6:30 PM ET

Minnesota (+6) vs. Indiana, 9:00 PM ET
