If you start 4-0 in the NFL, as five teams have done this season, you can just about make those postseason arrangements: Since 1990, 84 percent of teams to win their first four games have reached the playoffs.

In concert with Bodog Sportsbook's NFL team props on which team will be the last to win a game, they've also got a football prop bet on which will be the last unbeaten team. There are no 2007 Patriots or 1985 Bears-type teams in here – i.e. no club will probably reach double-digit wins without a loss and threaten the 1972 Dolphins' lone perfect season.

Get your NFL team props at Bodog!

Let's look at the five teams left without a blemish and their chances to be the last one standing:

Indianapolis Colts (+190): Don't waste your money on the Colts here – sorry, Indy fans, but I think this team is a bit of a fraud. Peyton Manning has been unbelievable as the Colts lead the league in total offense. But that is totally misleading: Indy is tops in passing (by a mile) but 29th in rushing. The defense has been great, holding the past two opponents, Arizona and Seattle, to a combined 73 yards rushing. But the injury to Bob Sanders on defense and to WR Anthony Gonzalez on offense will catch up to this team sooner than later – maybe Monday night at Tennessee. Then Indy is off before playing at the Rams and then a tough three-game home stretch vs. the Niners, Texans and Patriots.

New Orleans Saints (+225): Well, if you for sure want your money to last through this weekend, you will bet on the Saints – they are off this week. But then they host the Giants, are at the Dolphins and host the Falcons, all playoff teams from last year. Drew Brees hasn't thrown a TD the past two weeks or thrown for more than 190 yards. I don't buy that the Saint running game will stay at such a high level for too much longer. New Orleans could have two losses by the first weekend of November, but if it beats the Giants, I will be a believer.

New York Giants (+225): The G-men might as well have a bye this week: They face Oakland. I might have called the Giants the favorite for this prop before Eli Manning started suffering from plantar fasciitis – intense pain in the heel. This is something that really won't go away this season and will just have to be managed. Manning has started 82 games in a row and says he will play against the Raiders, but if he misses a game or any significant time in one, all bets are off on this team. Plus New York might lose as soon as next week at New Orleans.

Minnesota Vikings (+350): You might wonder why Minnesota doesn't have shorter odds, but just take at look at its upcoming schedule: at St. Louis (OK, forget that one), vs. Baltimore, at Pittsburgh, at Green Bay. That probably means Brett Favre and Co. reach 6-0 at best.

Denver Broncos (+1600): By far and away the most surprising team in the league so far, and it's been mostly because of defense, which always was this team's Achilles' heel under Mike Shanahan. Last week, as home dogs against Dallas, the Broncos held the NFL's top-rushing team (albeit without Felix Jones and a limited Marion Barber) to just 74 yards on 25 carries. Elvis Dumervil has become a sack machine, with eight in his past three games. And QB Kyle Orton has done just enough to win, as he often does: the former Bear is 17-2 at home as a starter in his career. But look for Denver to go down to defeat on Sunday at home against the Patriots. Then come games at San Diego, a bye week, at Baltimore and home to Pittsburgh. I wouldn't be shocked if Denver is 4-4 entering Week 10.

So what's the best bet here? Certainly this football team prop is tougher than determining the final winless team. The Colts have the easiest schedule upcoming, so if you think they win at Tennessee, take Indy because of what follows (including a bye week). But if you don't, I would go with who you think wins next week's Giants-Saints game, and New Orleans has the benefit of an off week to prepare (and obviously can't lose this week).

This is a cool prop to get in on, folks: The last unbeaten team will be?

Say what you will about Brett Favre announcing his retirement only to come back and play another season (with the New York Jets), and then to do it all over again (to retire and then come out of retirement and play for the Minnesota Vikings). Favre was cool enough to appear in a Sears TV commercial where he essentially made fun of himself, but after tonight's 30-23 win over the Green Bay Packers Favre becomes the only quarterback in NFL history to have beaten all 32 teams.

"I guess you have to be remembered for something," Favre joked immediately after the game.

ESPN commentator Mike Tirico went so far as to say that with the "two-headed monster" the Minnesota Vikings have with Favre throwing the ball and Adrian Peterson running the ball these guys can go all the way to the Super Bowl.

On the night, Favre threw three touchdown passes and 271 yards.

Ever since Brett Favre made the decision to un-retire and sign with the Minnesota Vikings, you had to know he would have a big impact on betting odds.

Favre is listed at +1500 to finish the season with the most gross passing yards. This may not be the best bet to take since Favre is in a run-first offense with a serious lack of top-tier wide receivers.

Think Favre can win the MVP as he leads the Vikings towards the Super Bowl? Well then you should lay some money down on the Vikings QB since he is pegged at +2500. Hard to imagine the guy being the best player in the entire league but stranger things have happened.

The Vikings are listed at +1200 to win the Super Bowl, and thanks to the addition of Favre look for a lot of action going their way.

There should be many more fun Favre prop bets to come.

Brett Favre (unless he retires again) will make his debut in purple tonight when the Minnesota Vikings look to build upon their 13-3 victory in Indianapolis. They will take on the Kansas City Chiefs, who lost to the Houston Texans 16-10 last week.

As we all know, Favre is the new commander off the Vikings offense after signing a two-year deal with the team. Don't get too excited about seeing Favre play that much however. It has been reported that Favre has been rusty in practice while fellow pivot Sage Rosenfels has looked very sharp.

Kansas City should play hard in their second preseason game of the season with position battles still going on – not to mention the amount of media attention that will be surrounding this preseason game.

Matt Cassel’s Chiefs debut was brief with only five pass attempts but he could see some more action against the 3-point favored Vikings.

Oh dear god. Just when you thought it was safe to assume that Brett Favre was going to keep his retired ass on the sofa this season…the old fart decides to take another kick at the can…with the Minnesota Vikings. At least that's what they're saying now.

FOXSports.com reported yesterday that Favre was on his way to St. Paul to meet with Vikings head coach Brad Childress, confirming previous suspicions that he was coming out of retirement AGAIN and signing with Minnesota. Then today we learn through numerous reports that the 39-year-old has in fact boarded a plane for St. Paul and is expected to sign a deal by tonight.

So much for thinking that you could finally sink your teeth into a Favre-less football season, hey? Will anyone give a rat's ass when he hangs it up for real?

Good grief.

The 1-point favored Minnesota Vikings will have their first test of the season against Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts.

This matchup is very interesting since a lot of fans like the odds of Minnesota and Indianapolis representing their respective conferences at Super Bowl XLIV.

The Colts are notorious for being cautious in the preseason, so why should that change? They know what they have and won’t push their starters to play too much. The Vikings, on the other hand, need to figure out their quarterback situation.

Tarvaris Jackson is reportedly ready to go, but don't expect more than a few snaps for a guy returning from an MCL sprain. Bob Sanders is out for Indy and Donald Brown should probably play.

Manning is unlikely to see much work in the preseason this year so look for backup Jim Sorgi (when healthy) and rookie Curtis Painter to get much of the action.

The past few weeks have seen good news and bad news for the defending NFC North champion Minnesota Vikings. Let's start with the bad news, not that I'm a glass half-empty guy. Of course that was QB Brett Favre telling the Vikings he was going to stay retired, shocking nearly everyone in the process. You won't find anyone who doesn't believe even a soon-to-be 40-year-old Favre isn't an upgrade over Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels, who was acquired from Houston in the offseason. Favre hasn't ruled out changing his mind during the season, but it appears his Hall of Fame career is actually finished.

As for the good news, one part of that involves Jackson, who is now the odds-on favorite to be the team's starter. He went down in one of the team's first practices, causing major panic. Even Jackson admitted he was very worried about a major injury, but it turned out to be just a sprain, and he was back at practice this week. Jackson's growth is crucial to this team, no question about it.

Get your NFL futures now while the odds are at their best!

The second bit of good news came this week as well when defensive tackles Pat Williams and Kevin Williams got an update on their court battle with the NFL over their four-game suspensions handed down last season but not yet served. Basically state court proceedings in Minnesota were put on hold in the case, with the court saying it would not schedule a trial during the season. So unless the NFL wins a federal appeal to bring the case out of state court, the Williamses should be able to play in the first four games. An appellate court is supposed to rule before the season, but if it rules the case has to stay in state jurisdiction, that's a victory for the Vikings this season.

So assuming the 2009 Vikings are at full strength, we do know this: This team will run the ball with 2008 rushing leader Adrian Peterson and will stop the run, as the Minnesota defense has led the league in rushing defense for the past three seasons, thanks in large part to Pat and Kevin Williams.

Bet on the Minnesota Vikings to win the NFC this year.
Get your NFL futures at Bodog.com Sportsbook now.

Also look for the Vikings to use Percy Harvin all over the field, much as the Florida Gators did. Fellow receiver Bernard Berrian and tight end Visanthe Shiancoe both have Pro Bowl potential. But it all comes down to Jackson, who is very athletic and has a strong arm but who isn't as accurate as Rosenfels.

Here is the Vikings' 2009 schedule, and we'll break it down after:
Sept. 13 at Cleveland Browns, 1 p.m.
Sept. 20 at Detroit Lions, 1 p.m.
Sept. 27 vs. San Francisco 49ers, 1 p.m.
Oct. 5 vs. Green Bay Packers, 8:20 p.m.
Oct. 11 at St. Louis Rams, 1 p.m.
Oct. 18 vs. Baltimore Ravens, 1 p.m.
Oct. 25 at Pittsburgh Steelers, 1 p.m.
Nov. 1 at Green Bay Packers, 1 p.m.
Week 9: Bye
Nov. 15 vs. Detroit Lions, 1 p.m.
Nov. 22 vs. Seattle Seahawks, 1 p.m.
Nov. 29 vs. Chicago Bears, 1 p.m.
Dec. 6 at Arizona Cardinals, 4:15 p.m.
Dec. 13 vs. Cincinnati Bengals, 1 p.m.
Dec. 20 at Carolina Panthers, 8:20 p.m.
Dec. 28 at Chicago Bears, 8:20 p.m.
Jan. 3 vs. New York Giants, 1 p.m.

Strength of schedule: 31st (opponents combined to go 107-148-1, .420, in 2008)
Projected record: 10-6
Bodog over/under total: TBD
Bodog odds to win NFC North: 8/5
Bodog odds to win NFC: 7/1
Bodog odds to win Super Bowl XLIV: 12/1

Minnesota opens with two road games (thanks to the Twins needing the Metrodome) for the first time since 1997. But don't feel too bad for the Vikes, as the Browns and Lions were a combined 4-28 last year. Minnesota hasn't won in Cleveland since 1983. The Vikes swept the Lions last year, but both were very close.

Overall, the Vikings' first eight games are the easiest in the NFL, with the team's opponents having a.375 winning percentage in 2008. The bye is nearly smack-dab in the middle of the season and comes at a great time, following trips to Pittsburgh and Green Bay, two potential losses. Then Minnesota gets four of the next five at home and should be favored in all four at the Metrodome. And don't rule out an upset of Arizona in the desert, as the Vikes romped there last year.

While Minnesota's overall schedule is second-easiest to only the Bears, the Vikings' closing three-game stretch is very difficult. It's Minnesota's only stretch this season with three games in a row against teams with a winning record in 2008. That game with the Bears on Dec. 28 could very well be for the NFC North title. Then Minnesota closes with the Giants for the second year in a row. Those two clubs have played 10 times in the past 11 seasons.

Ten wins should be enough for an NFC wild-card spot. However, another one-and-done in the playoffs could cost coach Brad Childress his job with all this talent on the roster.

The Minnesota Vikings, who are listed as +1200 favorites to win the Super Bowl, have waived cornerback Charles Gordon.

The team announced the move Monday. Gordon was entering his fourth season undrafted out of Kansas. He had worked his way up to be the nickel back and primary punt returner, until suffering a severe leg injury last November.

Gordon needed surgery after he was tackled at the end of a return in a game against Green Bay. He broke the fibula bone near his ankle and sustained ligament damage.

The Vikings have signed starters Cedric Griffin and Antoine Winfield to contract extensions, and they drafted another cornerback, Asher Allen, in the third round.

With training camp set to begin Friday, they’ve got eight players at the position.

Most expect Brett Favre to be in camp when it opens, and if that is the case Favre will have one month to forge chemistry with his receivers.

Not all of the big offseason news regarding the Minnesota Vikings revolves around a former Packers and Jets quarterback.

The strength of the Vikings the past few years has been their run defense, no offense to the incomparable Adrian Peterson. It has been Minnesota, not Baltimore and not Pittsburgh, that has led the NFL in rushing defense the past two seasons – holding opposing teams to under 80.0 yards per game in 2007 and 2008.

Thus the suspensions of defensive tackles and space-fillers Kevin Williams and Pat Williams (no relation) could be key to the Vikes’ NFC North hopes this season. The NFL suspended both of them last season four games each for a positive drug test for a banned substance, but they got an injunction to keep playing.

Without boring you with the legal details, the players have been fighting the suspensions since then, saying NFL officials knew a weight-loss supplement that they took contained a banned substance.

A federal judge recently threw out most of the claims of the Williamses but did rule that the NFL’s policy is clear: Players are responsible for what they put in their bodies, and inadvertently ingesting a banned substance is not an excuse.

But the judge also sent the case back to state court in Minnesota for long-winded legal reasons. Long story short: The NFL is more confident than ever that its suspension will be upheld and that the injunction allowing the Williamses to keep playing will be overturned.

Why does this matter to bettors? The Vikes are currently 16/1 odds to win Super Bowl XLIV on Bodog. But if their star tackles miss the first four games, the team could find itself in a hole in the division and thus in a hole for any potential home-field advantage in the playoffs. Hey, four games is 25 percent of the season!

Minnesota opens at Cleveland and Detroit and then hosts San Francisco and Green Bay. With the Williamses playing, the Vikes could start 4-0. Without them, 2-2 and even 1-3 is not impossible.

The Minnesota Vikings have pinned their playoff hopes on the shoulders of QB Tarvaris Jackson, who fumbled three times (losing two of them) in last week’s 24-17 loss to the Falcons (+3.5). If Jackson can’t lead the Vikings to victory Sunday over the New York Giants, and if Chicago beats Houston, the Bears win the NFC North and Minnesota gets bubkes. Both games start at 1:00 p.m. Eastern.

The good news for the Vikings is that they’re 7-point favorites (-105) at home. The Giants have already clinched the top seed in the NFC, but coach Tom Coughlin isn’t necessarily going to take it easy, as we saw last year when the Giants nearly beat the unbeaten Patriots in Week 17. Big Blue does have a number of hobbling players, though, including RB Brandon Jacobs (knee) and WR Domenik Hixon (foot).
