Ole Miss was a chic pick as a possible SEC champion this season (and maybe more), but the Rebels' chances of winning the nation’s toughest conference will vanish if they don't win at Vanderbilt on Saturday.

Whether it's good news or not, Mississippi, which is giving 10 points on Bodog's college football odds this week, got a few extra days to think about its 16-10 loss at South Carolina last Thursday. And since 1992, only five teams that opened SEC play 0-1 managed to win division titles: Tennessee (1997, 2007), LSU (2001, 2005) and Arkansas (2002).

QB Jevan Snead was a Sports Illustrated cover boy and Heisman candidate before the season, but he hasn't looked very good. Against the Gamecocks, Snead was just 7 of 21 passing for 107 yards and is under 50 percent completions on the year while averaging 163.7 yards per game. But starting slow seems to be his forte, as last year as the Rebs started 3-4, Snead had 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions, but then threw 16 touchdown passes against three interceptions during a six-game win streak to end the season.

Get all your college football odds at Bodog Sportsbook!

Don't look for Snead or the Rebels to overlook Vandy this week. Last year, the Commodores pulled out a 23-17 win in Oxford, picking off Snead four times. It remains Snead's worst statistical game to date. The Ole Miss offense only managed a field goal in that loss. This year, opponents are scoring just 13.8 ppg against Vanderbilt, which is allowing 266.0 total yards per game.

The Mississippi defense has been good this year, and that could be trouble for the Commodore offense, which as scored just 12 points and gained 400 total yards in two SEC losses. QB Larry Smith is capable of a big game but just as capable of an ugly one: He is last in the SEC with a 48.7 percent completion percentage.

In addition, second-leading rusher Zac Stacy will miss this game with an ankle injury, and WR John Cole, who caught seven passes for 67 yards and scored on a 31-yard reverse in last week's win at Rice but also broke his hand, is expected out as well.

When doing your football betting at Bodog, know Ole Miss has won 12 of the previous 16 overall in this series but has dropped the past two at Vandy.

The biggest game on the college football schedule Saturday would have to have been Alabama vs. Georgia as each of the top 10-ranked teams looked to preserve their unblemished records.

The No. 8-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide struck first in the contest and by half time held an impressive 31-0 lead over their opponents but Georgia would storm back with 30 second half points themselves.

In the fourth frame a Glen Coffee 12-yard run gave the Tide their last points of the quarter and enough to hang on for the 41-30 victory.

In the first five games of the 2008 season, Alabama has yet to ever trail on the scoreboard, but perhaps even more impressive was the actual victory over third-ranked Georgia.

Elsewhere in college football No. 4-ranked Florida was upset by the unranked Mississippi Rebels thanks in part to a poor performance from quarterback Tim Tebow.

The 31-30 victory is Ole Miss' third of the two team's last four match ups.
