If you start 4-0 in the NFL, as five teams have done this season, you can just about make those postseason arrangements: Since 1990, 84 percent of teams to win their first four games have reached the playoffs.

In concert with Bodog Sportsbook's NFL team props on which team will be the last to win a game, they've also got a football prop bet on which will be the last unbeaten team. There are no 2007 Patriots or 1985 Bears-type teams in here – i.e. no club will probably reach double-digit wins without a loss and threaten the 1972 Dolphins' lone perfect season.

Get your NFL team props at Bodog!
Don't have a Bodog account? Join now. It's FREE.

Let's look at the five teams left without a blemish and their chances to be the last one standing:

Indianapolis Colts (+190): Don't waste your money on the Colts here – sorry, Indy fans, but I think this team is a bit of a fraud. Peyton Manning has been unbelievable as the Colts lead the league in total offense. But that is totally misleading: Indy is tops in passing (by a mile) but 29th in rushing. The defense has been great, holding the past two opponents, Arizona and Seattle, to a combined 73 yards rushing. But the injury to Bob Sanders on defense and to WR Anthony Gonzalez on offense will catch up to this team sooner than later – maybe Monday night at Tennessee. Then Indy is off before playing at the Rams and then a tough three-game home stretch vs. the Niners, Texans and Patriots.

New Orleans Saints (+225): Well, if you for sure want your money to last through this weekend, you will bet on the Saints – they are off this week. But then they host the Giants, are at the Dolphins and host the Falcons, all playoff teams from last year. Drew Brees hasn't thrown a TD the past two weeks or thrown for more than 190 yards. I don't buy that the Saint running game will stay at such a high level for too much longer. New Orleans could have two losses by the first weekend of November, but if it beats the Giants, I will be a believer.

New York Giants (+225): The G-men might as well have a bye this week: They face Oakland. I might have called the Giants the favorite for this prop before Eli Manning started suffering from plantar fasciitis – intense pain in the heel. This is something that really won't go away this season and will just have to be managed. Manning has started 82 games in a row and says he will play against the Raiders, but if he misses a game or any significant time in one, all bets are off on this team. Plus New York might lose as soon as next week at New Orleans.

Minnesota Vikings (+350): You might wonder why Minnesota doesn't have shorter odds, but just take at look at its upcoming schedule: at St. Louis (OK, forget that one), vs. Baltimore, at Pittsburgh, at Green Bay. That probably means Brett Favre and Co. reach 6-0 at best.

Denver Broncos (+1600): By far and away the most surprising team in the league so far, and it's been mostly because of defense, which always was this team's Achilles' heel under Mike Shanahan. Last week, as home dogs against Dallas, the Broncos held the NFL's top-rushing team (albeit without Felix Jones and a limited Marion Barber) to just 74 yards on 25 carries. Elvis Dumervil has become a sack machine, with eight in his past three games. And QB Kyle Orton has done just enough to win, as he often does: the former Bear is 17-2 at home as a starter in his career. But look for Denver to go down to defeat on Sunday at home against the Patriots. Then come games at San Diego, a bye week, at Baltimore and home to Pittsburgh. I wouldn't be shocked if Denver is 4-4 entering Week 10.

So what's the best bet here? Certainly this football team prop is tougher than determining the final winless team. The Colts have the easiest schedule upcoming, so if you think they win at Tennessee, take Indy because of what follows (including a bye week). But if you don't, I would go with who you think wins next week's Giants-Saints game, and New Orleans has the benefit of an off week to prepare (and obviously can't lose this week).

This is a cool prop to get in on, folks: The last unbeaten team will be?

Quarterback Carson Palmer and the Cincinnati Bengals will take on the 3-point favored New Orleans Saints on Friday night at the Superdome.

The Bengals are a team in transition, especially on offense where reliable wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh left via free agency. Still, coach Marvin Lewis hopes that transition means the Bengals are trying to morph back to the team they were in 2005, when they finished 11-5 and in a first-place tie with the Steelers.

The Bengals will likely start the game with Carson Palmer and that is big news since the QB suffered through an injury-plagued season last year.

Drew Brees has nothing to prove after leading the league in passing yards last season so it is unlikely he’ll take many reps to avoid any injury risks.

Since the Bengals have a lot to prove this season, they have more to play for than the Saints in this one.

The Saints were one of the most fun teams to watch last year, as they threw the ball all over the place. Drew Brees was just one 20-yard completion short of Dan Marino's NFL record for passing yards in a season, with Brees finishing with 5,069 yards passing and 34 touchdowns on a whopping 635 attempts. Do the math, and that’s basically 40 pass attempts per game. That’s fun to watch, but it probably isn’t going to make you a championship-caliber team. In fact, the Saints finished 8-8 last year and out of the playoffs despite leading the NFL in points. The team had one two-game losing streak and one two-game winning streak but otherwise just alternated wins and losses.

The problems last year were the running game, which ranked just 28th in the NFL, and, as usual, the defense. Reggie Bush was a disappointment again, averaging just 3.8 yards per rush. He caught 52 passes but never seemed to turn a short pass into a big gain. He finished with just six touchdowns and couldn't stay healthy again. He had offseason knee surgery, so that’s something to keep an eye on. And Deuce McAllister was cut loose, so Bush might be counted on to run more in 2009 alongside Pierre Thomas, the every-down back. Tight end Jeremy Shockey also was a disappointment after coming over from the Giants, catching 50 passes for 483 yards and no touchdowns. He also had some injury problems.

But despite some issues on offense, this team can score, so the Saints concentrated on fixing the defense heading into 2009. The team brought in a new defensive coordinator in Gregg Williams, who is known as being very aggressive in his schemes. New Orleans really needs ends Will Smith and Charles Grant to step up and stay healthy. It was in the secondary where the Saints really performed an overhaul, including drafting Ohio State’s Malcolm Jenkins with their first-round pick when many expected a running back. The team also brought in a few veterans to help out.

Basically, however, this team looks much the same. Expect a lot of high-scoring games and a lot of over totals.

Here is the Saints' 2009 schedule, and we’ll break it down after:
Sept. 13 vs. Detroit Lions, 1 p.m.
Sept. 20 at Philadelphia Eagles, 1 p.m.
Sept. 27 at Buffalo Bills, 4:05 p.m.
Oct. 4 vs. New York Jets, 4:05 p.m.
Week 5: Bye
Oct. 18 vs. New York Giants, 1 p.m.
Oct. 25 at Miami Dolphins, 4:15 p.m.
Nov. 2 vs. Atlanta Falcons, 8:30 p.m.
Nov. 8 vs. Carolina Panthers, 4:05 p.m.
Nov. 15 at St. Louis Rams, 1 p.m.
Nov. 22 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 1 p.m.
Nov. 30 vs. New England Patriots, 8:30 p.m.
Dec. 6 at Washington Redskins, 1 p.m.
Dec. 13 at Atlanta Falcons, 1 p.m.
Dec. 19 vs. Dallas Cowboys, 8:20 p.m.
Dec. 27 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 1 p.m.
Jan. 3 at Carolina Panthers, 1 p.m.

The Saints do have the NFC South's easiest schedule, but New Orleans also went 3-5 against in 2008 against the teams on this year's schedule.

New Orleans hasn't had a winning first month since 2006, the last time the team made the playoffs. Opening with the 0-16 Lions should help this year, but the Saints will be underdogs in those two road games to end September.

That the first division game isn't until Week 8 is a little odd. There is little question the key stretch for this team starts with that Week 10 game in St. Louis. That's the first of four road games in five weeks. If New Orleans can go a minimum of 3-2, this team might contend for a playoff spot.

The Saints have more prime-time games (three) scheduled than any NFC South team, and all three of those are at home. They still could be underdogs in all three. That Patriots game is New England’s first visit to Louisiana since winning Super Bowl XXXV in 2001.

If New Orleans misses the playoffs for a third straight year, former Coach of the Year Sean Payton might be out of a job.

While most players dread training camp and the hot summer days of late July and August, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is eager to get back to work.

There’s good reason for Brees to get back at it after he threw for 5,069 yards one year ago, just 16 yards shy of Dan Marino’s single-season record.

The thought of possibly having the kind of team, particularly on defense, that can take the Saints back to the playoffs for the first time since they lost in the NFC Championship Game in 2006, is also a motivating factor.

The Saints are currently listed at +2200 to win the Super Bowl this season, and with Brees at QB those odds can only improve.

The Saints are expecting that contract negotiations with first-round draft pick Malcolm Jenkins will come down to the wire when the team reports to training camp on July 30.

Carolina lost their shot at home-field advantage throughout the postseason last week after losing to the Giants 34-28 in overtime. DeAngelo Williams continued to be a touchdown machine with four more scores while rushing for 108 yards on 24 carries. Williams leads the league with 18 touchdowns this season.

The Saints may be eliminated from playoff contention, but Sunday’s game isn’t completely meaningless. New Orleans QB Drew Brees can break Dan Marino’s longstanding record for passing yards in a season with 402 yards this week. Brees may have trouble getting 402 this week, though, as he only had 231 passing yards and zero touchdowns when Carolina beat New Orleans 30-7 in Week 7.

They covered their last game at Ford Field in a 20-16 loss to Minnesota (-10.5); this Sunday, they’ll get another crack at it against the New Orleans Saints (7-7 SU, 9-4-1 ATS).

There are three reasons to think the Lions will have a better shot this week than they did against the Vikings. One, they’ll have Dan Orlovksy (80.3 passer rating) at quarterback instead of the still-rusty Daunte Culpepper (63.9 rating, shoulder injury). Two, the Saints have a worse record than Minnesota, and three, this is the last home game of the season for Detroit. There will be a serious effort to win.

The Saints, on the other hand, have been eliminated from playoff contention after losing 27-24 to the Chicago Bears (-3) in overtime. This is a classic fade situation.
The Saints lead the league in offense at 6.3 yards per play and 7.8 yards per passing attempt, but their defense is below average. The Bears lead the league in turnovers created at 27, but their offense is below average.

It figures to be a close contest. The Bears, however, are 3-point favorites for Thursday (even money). Chicago gets the chalk because of Soldier Field; temperatures for this primetime affair are expected to dip below 30 degrees, which should be enough of a challenge for the dome-based Saints even under mostly clear skies. The Saints are 1-5 SU and 3-2 ATS on the road this season.

The crushing loss left the Saints in last place in the NFC South, three games behind Carolina and Tampa Bay and two games behind the Atlanta Falcons, who they play this week.

Two interceptions in their own territory and a Bucs field goal later sent the Saints home with a 23-20 loss, which pretty much ended their playoff hopes. Drew Brees had an off day completing 25 of 47 passes for 296 yards with two TDs and three interceptions.

At least the Saints have been cashing in for backers, winning three of their last four against the spread and putting up an 8-4 ATS record overall. A lot of the Falcons’ success comes from how well they are protecting their rookie QB Matt Ryan. Against the Chargers, Ryan was hit just twice and the line did not allow a sack.

The Saints’ playoff hopes are hanging in the balance and a loss Sunday could destroy their chances.

The Bucs were the latest team to beat up on the Lions over the weekend in a 38-20 victory. Jeff Garcia had a pair of touchdown passes, and running back Warrick Dunn had no problem taking over the starting job from injured Earnest Graham with 90 yards and a TD on 14 carries.

The Saints have a short week after a date with the Packers on Monday night and hope that Reggie Bush will finally be ready to return from a four-week injury lay-off.

In Week 1 the Bucs and Saints clashed when New Orleans came out on top 24-20 as a 3-point favorite. Drew Brees torched the Bucs for 343 passing yards and three touchdowns on that day, while Bush was a major factor with eight receptions for 112 yards and a TD.
It’s interesting how heading into Week 12 a 5-5 record equaled “tied for first” in the NFC North, while the same 5-5 record put the Saints in dead last in the NFC South.

At least the Saints finally get to go home again in Week 12. New Orleans hasn’t played at the Superdome since Week 6. In New Orleans this season the Saints are 3-1, compared to 2-4 on the road.

The Packers dominated the Bears 37-3 in a must-win divisional clash last week. Ryan Grant had no trouble with the Bears’ run defense with 145 yards and a TD on 25 carries.
