Oklahoma City is the worst club Los Angeles will face, and the Lakers have taken full advantage of facing the Thunder franchise of late. They’ve won eight straight in the series since a 117-101 loss at Seattle in 2006.
This will be the third and last matchup between the teams this season. Los Angeles’ victories in the first two contests came by an average of 10.5 points.

Kobe Bryant is averaging 35.0 points while shooting 55.3 percent in the two games versus the Thunder this season.

Kevin Durant averaged 31.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 3.5 steals in those contests. He’s coming off his best game since returning after missing seven straight with an ankle injury, scoring 30 points in the Thunder’s 97-90 win over Minnesota on Sunday.
Bryant scored 34 points in the Lakers’ 105-98 win over the visiting Thunder on Feb. 10, becoming the youngest player in league history at 30 years, 171 days to reach 23,000 points.

Oklahoma City lost 133-120 at Golden State on Saturday, giving up its second-highest point total of 2008-09. Its highest came the previous night in a 140-118 defeat at Phoenix.

The Lakers have allowed 49.0 percent shooting over their last three games while giving up at least 108 points in each contest.

One bright spot for the 8.5-point underdog Thunder has been the play of Russell Westbrook. The rookie point guard is averaging 20.0 points, 7.4 boards, and 6.6 assists during the Thunder’s five-game slide.

The Hornets make their return to the Ford Center, where they spent plenty of time following Hurricane Katrina, and will be part of the Thunder's national television debut. New Orleans will have to adjust to playing there when the home fans are not rooting for them.

The actual game might not be very close. Oklahoma City has the worst record in the league and are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games.

The Hornets have lost five of seven following a 3-0 start but they are 12-1 ATS in their last 13 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. Chris Paul leads the league with 11.9 assists per game and is averaging a team-best 20.7 points.
In Sunday’s debut for their new fans, the Thunder earned their first home win and first victory since moving from Seattle. The odds of getting a second victory and a second win in their new home will be slim tonight against the defending NBA champions, the Boston Celtics.

The former SuperSonics team gave up 106.3 points per game last season, but none of Oklahoma City’s first three opponents have reached triple digits, averaging 90.7 points.

Boston rebounded from a season-low 79 points in a loss Saturday at Indiana with a season high for points in a 103-99 victory Tuesday at Houston. While the Thunder’s defense seems to be improving, the Celtics have also been excellent in the early season as they are allowing opponents to shoot only 37.8 percent.

The Celtics are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games overall dating back to last season.

Just last season the Sonics struggled in the Western Conference finishing with a conference-low 20 wins.

With the controversy of the Oklahoma City move now in the rear view mirror, David Stern hopes basketball fans can put hard feelings behind them as the recently-named Thunder move forward.
