Not a super exciting week in poker news, but some stuff has been going on, so here's a brief recap:

2009 WSOP Main Event champion Joe Cada continued his media blitz that has so far featured him ringside at Madison Square Gardens for WWE Raw, on the Late Show with David Letterman, on SportsCenter on ESPN and now on the American Morning show on CNN. He may not be the most effusive guy on camera, but he definitely seems to be getting more camera time than that guy that won last year, … John? Matthew? Mark? Luke? Wait, we know this… Dennis! That's right, Dennis Phillips. What? He didn't win? Well, then we have no idea.

Joe Cada on CNN American Morning

Tom "durrrr" Dwan has been taking on some of the worlds highest-stakes poker players in the heads-up Durrrr Million Dollar Challenge at the Les Ambassadeurs club in London. Each opponent ponies up $250,000 to tak eon the online prodigy in their choice of No Limit Holdem or Pot Limit Holdem. For the first day of the challenge, Dwan took on Marcello “luckexpress” Marigliano in No Limit Holdem for 11 hours and Pot Limit Holdem for the last hour. At the end, durrrr ended up down $25,500. The next day he took on notorious aggro Swede Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies in a match that saw both of them rebuy for $250,000 and end up so close that Dwan only managed to eek out a $68,000 victory. The challenge concludes when he takes on Sammy “Any Two” George tomorrow/today, or however these timezone things work.

Bluff Europe: Ilari ‘Ziigmund’ Sahamies' Turn in Durrrr Million Dollar Challenge

The LAPT Playa Conchal is already halfway through Day 2 in the beautiful town of Playa Conchal in Costa Rica. Honestly, who cares about poker in a place like this. Instead of reciting boring chip counts, just take a deep breath, look at the pic at the top of this post, close your eyes and just imagine being on that beach. Your welcome. For the rest of you, there are 60 players left out of the original 259. The only person we feel like is worth mentioning that is near the top of the chip counts is Maridu Mayrinck cos she's a super cool Brazilian chick. Further down the chip counts is Bodog online poker regular Bolivar "ramux" Palacios, for whom we are also rooting.

Today's one of those days where there's a lot going on, but there's not really a lot going on. Makes total sense right? Suffice it to say, there's a few blurbs worth mentioning but none of them really wirth mentioning by themselves.

Anyway, let's get on with it:

- The $10,000 buy-in WPT Foxwoods Poker Classic kicks off tomorrow. There will be poker pros in attendance, but no one really knows which ones or how many people will actually show up in total. This will be worthy of a post by itself when it gets underway.

- The 2009 Five-Star World Poker Classic has been underway at the Bellagio for a few days. Poker pro Jonathan "FieryJustice" Little took down the $500 buy-in first event for a payday of $27,470. The FSWPC ends in a couple of weeks with the $25,000 buy-in 2009 WPT Championship, or the 2009 FSWPCWPTC.

- Event No. 1 of the Venetian Deep Stack tournament series kicked off today and culminates in the $2,500 championship event on April 23.

- The WSOP Academy is holding their Advanced Poker Academy at Caesars Palace starting tomorrow, so there's that.

- Jamie Gold his girlfriend and some other guy won the Dream Team Poker Tournament as Team Aced. Read the action at PokerListings.

That pretty much does it. As you can see, a lot, but not really. We've got a ton of WPT action coming up over the next few weeks though, so make sure to head back here for more poker news. And if you want to head to a WPT event yourself instead of living them vicariously through us, qualify online for the WPT through Bodog Poker and win a $12,000 prize package. The end.

1. Kai Landry won the WSOP Circuit Event in Tunica taking home $183,974. As we said yesterday, poker is poker and can be a cruel mistress at times so it only makes sense that Matt "Allinat420″ Stout would end up taking his ridiculous chip lead at the start of the final table and only coming away with a third-place finish.

2. Poker pro Phil Ivey definitely lost $800,000 after the first half of the Super Bowl for betting on the Cardinals to have the lead, but then he either broke even or went up $800,000 after the Cardinals stayed within the points spread at the conclusion of the game. According to Ivey during his show on PokerRoad.com, there doesn't seem to be much difference between the two amounts to him. We'd like to point out that he could buy three and a half of our houses with that.

3. The 2009 Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza I is underway but there doesn't seem to be anything really interesting happening there at the moment.

4. The Caesar's Palace Mega Stack Series is also underway and, as you may have guessed, there is nothing exciting happening there either.

5. The Imperial Palace Super-Duper Stack Bonanza does not exist, but someone should get on that.

6. Actor Steve Martin revealed during an appearance on Late Night with David Letterman that he won $1,000 playing online poker during an Ambien-induced sleepwalking episode. Really? We're no good conscious, so… *quickly Googles nearest pharmacy*

7. Hear the Hardcore Poker Radio remix of some of Phil Hellmuth's best quotes here.

That's all we've got for now, but come back next week for more poker news and poker tournament updates.

Heading into the WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic, poker pro John Phan held the lead in the 2008 CardPlayer Player of the Year points race with only a few players in position to possibly catch him. When the last one of those players, Michael Binger, busted out in 67th place, Phan's place was secured in the history books and this award was added to his resume.

Over the course of this year, Phan has amassed $2,101,766 in prize money and reached eight high-profile final tables, winning three of them. Those three wins included his first World Poker Tour title at the WPT Legends of Poker back in August, his first WSOP bracelet in the $3,000 No Limit Holdem event and then another WSOP bracelet a week later in the $2,500 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball event.

Phan now has more than $5.3 million in career earnings and this whole host of accloades under his belt in just over 10 years of playing poker professionally. He definitely deserves the award this year as he had one of the sickest runs over the summer that the poker world has ever seen. He joins the ranks of previous winners that include Daniel Negreanu, Men “The Master” Nguyen, David “The Dragon” Pham, T.J. Cloutier and Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi.

As we sat down up on the bleachers that make up media row and our de facto home away from home afor the duration of the 2008 WSOP, we noticed several shadows flitting across the ceiling. We looked up to our surprise, and most likely their's as well, and saw two pigeons circling the Amazon Room before perching on the lighting struts that are stretched across the room.

Of course, the jokes rolled about "bird's eye views," "railbirds" and "this tournament is going to the birds," but all joking aside they probably have the best seats in the house to watch the action today. Out in the field they will spy several Team Bodog poker players and another final table featuring several big name pros.

Bodog poker pro Evelyn Ng enters Day 2 of the $1,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold'em World Championship in 15th place with 61 players remaining. That tournament will restart at 2pm local time.

Another Bodog pro, David Williams, is currently sitting in 6th place out of 169 in the $2,000 Omaha Hi/Lo event. He will be up against a field that still includes poker pros Scott Clements, Barry Greenstein, Victor Ramdin, Men "The Master" Nguyen and Jimmy "gobboboy" Fricke. They get back underway at 3pm.

Justin Bonomo is sitting out in the field for the $1,500 No Limit Holdem Shootout event and is currently seated directly to the left of our favorite cougar, Michele Lewis.

Over at the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship final table, poker pro David Oppenheim is the chip leader with Erik Seidel fighting to battle out of the short-stack and win his ninth WSOP bracelet. Of course this final table could have been even more star-studded had Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu made it, but they finished ninth and eleventh, respectively.

Stay tuned for more live updates from the 2008 WSOP courtsy of the Bodog Beat.
