Lyoto Machida cannot be called dull any longer by fans and media. “The Dragon”, as he is known, won the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s light heavyweight title with an electrifying flurry that knocked out Rashad Evans on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena at 3:57 of the second round. Referee Mario Yamasaki had no choice but to stop it.

Evans came in as a +170 underdog while the challenger Machida was the favorite at -210.

Evans proved with his one-punch knockout of Chuck Liddell in September and his TKO of Forrest Griffin in December that he’s powerful enough to win any fight with a single shot.

Machida, though, went for the kill as soon as the first opportunity presented itself.

He is now the new UFC light heavyweight champ and remains unbeaten at 15-0. It was Evans’ first loss in 15 fights. Bodog has all you MMA odds.

They said it before he won the Ultimate Fighter against a bunch of heavyweights. They said it before he destroyed Chuck Liddell. They even said it before he dominated Forrest Griffin to win his title. And now they’re saying it as he prepares to defend his title against the also undefeated Lyoto Machida. The champion is coming in as the +170 underdog while the challenger Machida is the favorite at -210.

Machida has not lost a single round on any judge’s card in his entire UFC career, and his karate techniques have kept all his opponents at bay. But the challenger has never faced a fighter as fast as Evans. And if the champion can close the gap, his wrestling skills could easily control Machida for a victory. Bodog has your UFC 98 odds. Get them before the big fight!

Light heavyweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter, Rashad Evans (11-0-1) has a new opponent for UFC 85.

Originally, Evans was booked to face former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell (21-5), but now that a hamstring injury has forced "The Iceman" off the card, matchmakers have chosen a new opponent.

On Saturday, June 7 in London, England, Evans will face James "The Sandman" Irvin (14-4), the 205-pound goliath who recently KO'd Houston Alexander (8-3) at UFC Fight Night 13 on April 2.

"I’m a little bit disappointed," Evans tells MMAweekly.com, "but I think I’m at the point where I’m kind of over all of it and focusing on my new opponent. He’s very tough and brings a lot of things to the table so I definitely can’t go in there being sad cause I’m not fighting Chuck. Hopefully nothing happens to James Irvin. I hope he has a good training camp."

UFC contract winner Rashad Evans (11-0-1) has agreed to fight former light heavyweight champion Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell (21-5-0) in June.

Former top-ranked Brazilian Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (16-3-0) was originally scheduled to face Liddell, but a knee injury sustained in training forced him to withdraw from the event, leaving Liddell without an opponent.

"The Iceman" is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Rua's former team mate, Wanderlei Silva (31-8-1) at UFC 79: Nemesis in December, while Evans is returning after a split decision win over Michael Bisping (14-1-0) at UFC 78: Validation in October 2007.

Previously, Evans fought to a controversial draw with Tito Ortiz (15-5-1) in July.
