<p>There’s no doubt that California horse racing rules over New York. California has twice as many tracks as New York. New York may have the final jewel of the Triple Crown, and some other big races, but California tracks are open for business for most of the year. New York only has Aqueduct, Belmont Park, Saratoga, and Finger Lakes, and Aqueduct was being considered for closure last year. Despite local politicians’ efforts to save it, the track’s future is still undetermined.</p>
<p>California <a href="https://www.bodoglife.com/horse-betting/" target="_blank">horse racing</a> fans can go to many more stakes races than New Yorkers can, and the weather is a lot nicer. The racing industry in California is expanding with Santa Anita as its poster track. The track has added a synthetic surface, and the grounds occupy approximately 320 acres. Its landmark, 1,100-foot-long Grandstand seats 26,000 guests, and the giant infield area accommodates many thousands more.</p>
<p>If you can't make it out to the horse track don't worry, Bodog's got you covered with their top-notch <a href="https://www.bodoglife.com/horse-betting/" target="_blank">online horse betting</a>.</p>

<p>The European contingent of possible Breeders' Cup challengers continues to look strong with wins in the Group 1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp and the Group 1 Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes on Sunday, Sept. 7.</p>
<p>The 1-mile €400,000 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp was won by <strong>Goldikova</strong>, a 3-year-old filly trained by Freddie Head. This was her second Group 1 victory, and it was over Europe's other highly rated miler <strong>Henrythenavigator</strong>, who finished a disappointing fifth. Under jockey <strong>Olivier Peslier</strong>, Goldikova took control of the race six furlongs in and defended her lead from a late-charging <strong>Darjina</strong> to win by half a length. A trip to Santa Anita in October appears to be in Goldikova's future, according to Head: "She will definitely go to the Breeders' Cup now… She could go for the Mile or the Filly and Mare Turf." As for Henrythenavigator, he will be looking to regroup at the Group 2 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on Sept. 27 at Ascot on his way to the Classic or the Mile.</p>
<p><strong>New Approach</strong> continued on his path towards the Breeders' Cup with a win in the €1M Irish Champion Stakes, a 1-1/4 mile turf race for 3-year-olds and up. Fans expecting to see a rematch between Epsom Derby winner New Approach, and Juddmonte International Stakes champion <strong>Duke of Marmalade</strong> were disappointed when the latter was scratched by trainer <strong>Aiden O'Brien</strong> due to soggy track conditions. Surprisingly, New Approach's fiercest competitor came in the form of 50-1 longshot Traffic Guard, who rallied late and fell short of the win by a mere half-length. New Approach's connections now have their sights set on more prestigious challenges—according to trainer <strong>Jim Bolger</strong>, "[Owner] <strong>Sheikh </strong><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:PunctuationKerning /> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas /> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables /> <w:SnapToGridInCell /> <w:WrapTextWithPunct /> <w:UseAsianBreakRules /> <w:DontGrowAutofit /> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--> <span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana;"><strong>Mohammed</strong> is keen on [New Approach] running in the Breeders' Cup Classic."</span></p>

<p><strong>Georgie Boy </strong>kept his three-race streak alive this Saturday at the $200,000 San Felipe at Santa Anita with an exciting win against <strong>Gayego</strong> and <strong>Bob Black Jack</strong>. The three favorites had never run a route event before but watching those three finish with an outstanding push from Georgie Boy you wouldn’t know it.</p>
<p>After a recent injury to his San Vincente-winning jockey <strong>Rafael Bejarno</strong>, Georgie Boy was ridden by <strong>Michael Baze</strong> in a time of 1:42:35.</p>
<p>"They're both great, fine riders,” said <strong>Kathy Walsh</strong>, Georgie Boy’s veteran trainer. “We just went with the fact that Michael had been on the horse [for workouts] quite a bit last spring but only got to ride him in a race once. That, and I knew Michael had all the faith in the world in him."</p>
<p>"Around the far turn I just had to wait, wait, wait and at the top of the lane, I was able to swing out and say ‘Goodbye', He really impressed me more after we hit the wire,” said Baze. “I had a harder time pulling him up than I did during the race. I didn’t get him pulled up until the five-eighths pole.”</p>
<p>Georgie Boy will next appear in either the April 5 Santa Anita Derby or the Arkansas Derby a week later.</p>

Bejarano was put into an ambulance on a stretcher and taken to local Arcadia Methodist Hospital.</p>
<p>Bejarano atop Parisian Art were well back of the field into the stretch, when the 3-year-old collapsed just past the eighth pole, falling to the ground and smashing Bejarano head first onto the track. The rider was thrown clear from the horse and remained motionless while the ambulance came to the scene.</p>
<p>Bejarano had two earlier wins on the same card. It was the 12th winning ride for Bejarano in 25 mounts since March 8. Bejarano has a total of 60 wins.</p>
<p>Bejarano is scheduled to ride <strong>Georgie Boy </strong>in the March 15 San Felipe Stakes (gr. II).</p>

<p>As a result of a drainage problem and not to mention the wet winter weather conditions, the new synthetic track has too much standing wager and soft spots. Usually rainouts in horse racing are rare, but it's becoming a reoccurring issue with Santa Anita.</p>
