That video is of Hungarian weightlifter Janos Baranyai popping out his elbow during the men's 77kg competition. the 24-year-old Baranyai had finished eighth in April's European Championships and is considered one of the bright young prospects in the sport. But on his second attempt to lift 145kg, his arm snapped violently and Baranyai crumbled to the ground, screaming in pain.

He was automatically sent to the China-Japan Friendship Hospital where he underwent immediate repair.

If you read enough sports news yesterday you know that Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Chris Snyder suffered one of the worst injuries a man can have: testicle fracture. Ugh, again, I'd rather tear my ACL.

If a testicular fracture is literally what it sounds like Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Chris Snyder may have the best reason ever to be on the disabled list a testicular fracture. I'd rather tear my ACL.

If you want more details on the injury here it is: Each testicle is surrounded by the tunica albuginea, a tough, fibrous covering that often takes the hit of trauma to the gland. Like the shell of an egg, it can be easily "fractured" or shattered when confronted by a blunt or violent force.

Oh dear god I'm even having trouble writing this.

The injury was caused by a foul tip to the groin but surprisingly Snyder was only placed on the 15-day DL.

"There's a pretty decent chance that I've thrown my last pitch, forever," Schilling said. "I'm going in to make it not hurt anymore, which is pretty much all I care about."

Schilling had just signed an $8 million deal with Red Sox last November, but it looks like Boston will never get their money's worth. He might not return in 2009.

"I don't want it to end this way, but if this is the way it has to end, I'm OK with that," Schilling told the radio station.

The world's No. 1 player announced today that he'll be undergoing major knee surgery, an operation that will force him to miss the remainder of the 2008 golf season.

Woods said on his Web site that he will have surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament. He also wrote that he needs time to rehabilitate a double stress fracture of his left tibia, which he said was discovered just before the Memorial Tournament in late May.

Braves GM Frank Wren announced today that Smoltz, 41, will undergo surgery on his right shoulder and will miss the remainder of the regular season.

Smoltz was sidelined with an inflamed biceps tendon and inflamed rotator cuff from late April until Monday. He came off the disabled list Monday and threw an inning of relief against Florida, blowing a save by allowing two runs and three hits in a game the Braves eventually won in 10 innings.

The loss hurts the Braves, who were the benefactors from some strong Smoltz pitching thus far. At the time of injury, Smoltz was 3-2 with a 2.57 ERA in six games, five of which were starts.

While he hopes to return in 2009, many are speculating that this serious injury might be too much for the veteran to come back from.

Tonight, Smoltz's longtime Atlanta teammate Tom Glavine (-1.5, +145) takes to the hill against Florida's Mark Hendrickson (+1.5, -165).

The Rocky Mountain News is reporting that Troy Tulowitzki has suffered a torn left quad and could be gone until the All-Star break.

This is devastating news considering the Rockies, NL Champs last year, have started the season 11-17 and are last in the NL West. Tulowitzki was going through a rough start before the injury. He was batting just .152 with one HR and 11 RBIs.

His agent didn't make things sound too promising that he could even return this year.

"With the help of God, he will be back in two months." his agent said.

"The Iceman" has been put on ice. Former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell (21-5) has been forced to withdraw from the main event of UFC 85: Liddell vs. Evans, scheduled for June 7 in London, England.

"Unfortunately, Chuck Liddell tore his right hamstring during training last week," says UFC president Dana White. "Being the warrior that he is, he still wanted to fight, which is the reason why everyone in the world loves him, but I wouldn't let anyone fight with his leg looking that way. Let him heal and come back and fight when he is 100 percent."

Liddell was a -265 favorite in the Bodog Sportsbook.

This is the second time the main event of UFC 85 has been changed due to an injury. Originally, Liddell was scheduled to face Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (16-3). Unfortunately, "Shogun" was forced off the card when he re-injured his knee.

With Rua out, Rashad Evans (11-0-1) was brought in. He was a +205 underdog against "The Iceman". Now the UFC will be looking for another fighter to fight Evans in June.

Looks like Atlanta Braves reliever Peter Moylan is totally fugged up.

The big Australian is out with an injured right elbow and doctors are speculating that he’ll have to go under the knife for Tommy John surgery if current treatment is ineffective.

Moylan is 0-1 with a save and an ERA of 1.59 this season. Last season he was a beast, going 90 innings in his rookie year, with a record of 5-3 with one save and a 1.80 ERA.

"You move on," said manager Bobby Cox. "Somebody's got to pick him up."
