Don't expect another loss like that, but the Red Raiders will be in tough despite playing at home. Texas Tech has dropped six straight for the first time since losing seven in a row in 2001. The Red Raiders lost their third straight at home Saturday, 78-63 to Oklahoma.

Texas Tech has won the last two meetings with Kansas at United Spirit Arena, but has lost 17 of 20 all-time against the Jayhawks.

The Oklahoma Sooners (25-3 SU, 12-10-1 ATS) lost arguably the best player in college and the consensus No. 1 pick in the 2009 NBA Draft when Griffin got clocked in the nose last week against Texas. Then OU lost to the Longhorns (-1.5 in Austin) and the Kansas Jayhawks (+2 in Norman) to fall out of first place in the Big 12. Griffin’s status for Saturday remains uncertain as he continues to recover from a concussion.

As potent as Texas Tech’s offense is, it may be meeting its equal in Oklahoma’s. The 7-point favorite Sooners lead the FBS with 51.4 points per game, and Sam Bradford is directing the third-most proficient offense in passing yards per game and total yards.

The problem is, the Kansas State Wildcats (3-1 SU, 1-2 ATS) have proved even less up to this point. If anything, their 38-29 loss at Louisville (+5.5) suggests the Wildcats are going to have a very tough time Saturday as 7.5-point home dogs versus the Red Raiders.

Texas Tech (+19) is fresh off its biggest win of the year, a storming-the-court inducing 83-80 win over No. 5 Texas on Saturday.

Kansas's last victory was no slouch either. The Jayhawks manhandled in-state rivals Kansas State 88-74.

In news that has sent shockwaves throughout college basketball, Texas Tech head coach Bobby Knight has stepped down as head coach of the team.

The NCAA's all-time leader in coaching victories – with 902 – recorded his 100th win in 1971 as a coach with the Armed Forces, just to give you an idea how long Knight has been at it. Sources close to the situation said the 67-year-old coach was "tired" and felt burned out after so many years in the game. He's been a head coach for over 40 years at three different Division I schools. After scoring his 100th victory at Army he then moved to Indiana, where his Hoosiers won over 650 games and three national titles.

Knight will be best remembered for his frequent outbursts and seemingly incontrollable temper. He was dismissed by the University of Indiana in 2001 after an altercation with a student proved to be the final straw. Many saw the incident as the spark which ignited a powderkeg that'd been building for years. Knight – while a gifted basketball mind – simply rubbed too many people the wrong way and didn't seem to care who got hurt when he did.

While he mellowed out somewhat with the Red Raiders, he still got into the occasional scene and situation…but nothing like his days at Indiana. Granted, Texas Tech is a far-less high profile job than the coach of the Hoosiers, and that too may have played a role in the decision.

Texas Tech announced that Knight's son, Pat Knight, would be taking over the head coaching job.
