In the guest drama categories, Ellen Burstyn won an Emmy for appearing on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

"I always wanted one of these," Burstyn said, winning her first Emmy after being nominated five times.

Michael J. Fox took the Emmy for his memorable turn on Rescue Me. A&E’s Intervention won the reality program category and Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place took the top prize in children’s programming.

Fey will be competing against Mary Louise Parker (2/1), who earned a nomination for her role as a drug dealing momma in the Showtime hit, Weeds. Christina Applegate (7/2) is also nominated for her role in the recently canceled Samantha Who? , though she has recently earned extensive press for undergoing a double mastectomy to treat breast cancer, as well as being named People magazine's most beautiful person for 2009. Applegate is also well-known for her hilarious portrayal of Kelly Bundy on Married With Children for ten years.

Other nominees include Julia Louis-Dreyfus (3/2), who spent eight years on Seinfeld and two on her current series, The New Adventures of Old Christine. Toni Collette (5/2) is also a strong contender for her work on Showtime's United States of Tara.

However, we always come back to Tina Fey, whose career seems to have the momentum of a freight train. Not only is she nominated for Best Actress but the show she created, 30 Rock is also getting the Best Comedy nom, her fellow castmembers are getting some love and Fey was nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her genius portrayal as Alaskan Govenor Sarah Palin. Other comedies that earned some well-deserved recognition are Entourage, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, Weeds and last year's Emmy golden child, 30 Rock. Tina Fey's NBC hit won in the comedy category the past two years and earned 22 nominations this year.

Best Drama nominees included the 1960s advertising drama Mad Men, serial killer show, Dexter, break-out hit, Breaking Bad, as well as House, Lost, Damages and HBO's Big Love.

Hilarious How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris is slated to host the festivities.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge of the show — adding my own voice to it, while honoring the nominees and the entire year in television," Harris said in a press release. "But which voice to choose? I'm torn between gangsta, foppish Brit, and robot. Really proud of my robot. We'll see what happens on the night."

Apparently, when Fey was just five-years-old, she was playing in her front yard when a stranger walked up and slashed her cheek.

"It was in, like, the front yard of her house, and somebody who just came up, and she just thought somebody marked her with a pen," Fey's husband, Jeff Richmond, told Vanity Fair.

"It's impossible to talk about it without somehow seemingly exploiting it and glorifying it," Fey said.

"I proceeded unaware of it," Fey added. "I was a very confident little kid. It's really almost like I'm kind of able to forget about it, until I was on-camera."

The Chicago Sun-Times' Bill Zwecker is reporting that the tables are turning – and a spoof of Fey's American Express commercial is in the works that will star Sarah Palin. The skit would possibly air during the next SNL on October 18 or for this Thursday's SNL's Weekend Update special.

On the last episode, Fey did a bang-up job making fun of the Palin-Biden debate. Her resemblance to Palin is so uncanny, a Montreal newspaper published a still from SNL thinking it was acutally the Alaskan Govenor.
