According to Marty Rathbun, who was once a high-ranking Scientologist and one of leader David Miscavige’s most trusted lieutenants, beatings were used in an effort to intimidate uncooperative Scientologists. Apparently, there is a Scientology compound out in Hemet, California nicknamed "The Hole" and Tom Cruise was scheduled to visit there a couple years ago. Three Scientologists were actually being held captive there for insubordination. Marc Yager, Guillaume Leserve and Ray Mithoff were managers who were "too light in their demands for confessions" and refused to carry out beatings.

“Miscavige berated [the managers] for being far too light in their demands for confessions” from the three, Rathbun alleges in his letter, “because they refused to beat [them] … to pulps. Miscavige said that Tom … had vowed to come to the Hole and personally ‘beat the living [bleep]’ out of Yager, Leserve and Mithoff if the managers failed to do so themselves."

Acoording to Rathbun, the three men were subsequently beaten.

Scientology spokesman Tommy Davis says that Rathbun is lying and that the three men all provided sworn affidavits stating that they were never beaten. No word on weather those affidatvits were signed under duress!

After Jett's death, which was apparently related to a seizure, there had been reports that perhaps he was not receiving proper medical care for his condition, due to his parents' religious beliefs as Scientology dscourages followers from seeking medical care for certain illnesses.

"That's just not true. It's actually false," Cruise said. "They say, 'Get your physical, get your medication, get your physical illnesses handled.'"

The Church of Scientology also has spoken out against the rumors, saying, "Scientologists use prescription drugs when physically ill and also rely on the advice and treatment of medical doctors. The Church does not involve itself in the diagnosis or classification of any medical condition."

Luckily, the Daily Mail, who suspiciously sound like a press release for Tom's new flick, have the scoop.

They report, "The Mail on Sunday can reveal that security has been stepped up around Cruise, 46, Holmes, 30, and their two-year-old daughter Suri. The couple now live at separate locations and move around in bomb-proof vehicles. Other protesters have been angered by Cruise's portrayal of Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg – who was at the centre of the 1944 plot by Nazi officers to assassinate Adolf Hitler – in the film Valkyrie. Last week Cruise attended the Los Angeles premiere of the movie, which was targeted by protesters from the anti-Scientology group Anonymous. He has been forced to increase security around his family since then.

"'The threats are perceived to be so great that the FBI has been alerted,' said a source. 'Tom is terrified. He doesn't feel safe anywhere.'"

To protect himself, Tom drives around in a bomb proof car. Because you know, most people who plot to kill other people do it with bombs.

Cruise made for the exit shortly after his speech. So, Lauer called after him with the zinger, "Tom, can you stay? I'll get a booster seat."

Meredith Vieira was surprisingly one of the dirtier roasters, saying how his former co-anchor Katie Couric squeezed his balls so tight that there's nothing there for her to grab. She also relayed how when people ask her if she and Matt really get along, she answers from her heart: "Fuck no!"

Vieira also talked about how she always defends Lauer when people say he has a stick up his butt: "It's not a stick, my friends. It's Al Roker's dick."

With Cruise sporting an American accent and the rest of the ensemble speaking with accents that range from British to bad German, the idea that Cruise is Colonel Claus Von Stauffenberg, a German army officer who tried and fails to assassinate Hitler, is a hard one to swallow.

Moreover, industry insiders point out that the film's release date, December 26, will face some serious competition as it shares a scheduled release date of Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet's film,  Revolutionary Road.

Cruise has had a few upsets on the set of Valkyrie, including this one and this one.

Scientology is a dangerous movement," Milivudes president Jean-Michel Roulet told ABCNews.com. "It puts pressure on its victims, it tries to intimidate them and blackmails them."

ABC News also reports that Isabelle Montagne, spokesperson with the Paris court of Justice, said that if Scientology is found guilty of fraud or illegal practice of medical activities, the president of the Paris Scientology Celebrity Centre, one of the biggest centers in France, could be sentenced to seven years in prison and the organization would be shut down.

Scientology is already considered an illegal cult in Germany.

The extra's lawyer has placed ads searching for other injured extras on a website to help their case. The extra's attorney says they've found other witnesses who are prepared to testify "that everyone on the set knew that the vehicles were in terrible shape."

Tom Cruise wasn't on the set at the time of the accident. In Valkyrie, Cruise plays German officer Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg, the anti-Nazi celebrated for unsuccessfully trying to kill Adolf Hitler in 1944 by hiding a bomb in his briefcase.

The movie's satirical subplot involves a fake movie entitled Simple Jack, in which Ben Stiller's character plays a handicapped man. In some viral marketing, DreamWorks released a fake Simple Jack movie poster, fake preview along with the pretty offensive tag line: "Once upon a time, there was a retard."

Spokesperson for the Special Olympics, Peter Wheeler says: "We are asking people not to go to the movie and hope to bring a consciousness to people about using derogatory words about this population. That will be the start of a nationwide protest. We will continue to be vocal about the destructive effect of this film."

Twenty-two advocate groups plan to protest the film, including the Los Angeles premiere today.

DreamWorks argues that Tropic Thunder is not making fun of the disabled, but rather Hollywood's portrayal of the disabled and the obnoxious, insufferable actors who play them.

A DreamWorks rep said that they will not make any cuts to the film and added, "Tropic Thunder is an R-rated comedy that satirizes Hollywood and its excesses, and makes its point by featuring inappropriate and over-the top characters in ridiculous situations. The film is in no way meant to disparage or harm the image of individuals with disabilities."

This is the first child for the 41-year-old actress and her husband of two years.
