Ammiano said he was unaware of the hidden message until a publication, Bay Guardian, pointed it out.

Only serving as Mayor of Hoboken for three weeks, Peter Cammarano and other highly ranked New Jersey politicians as well as five rabbis were nabbed by the feds for their involvement in an international money laundering scheme. In total, 44 people were charged.

The scheme apparently operated between Brooklyn, Deal, N.J., and Israel that laundered millions via charities controlled by shady rabbis. For his part, Cammarano was charged with accepting $25,000 in bribes. Others taken down were Secaucus Mayor Denis Elwell, Jersey City Deputy Mayor Leona Baldini, Jersey City Council President Mariano Vega and two state assemblymen. Assemblyman L. Harvey Smith is charged with taking $15,000 in bribes in exchange for approving building permits and Assemblyman Daniel Van Pelt has also been charged for bribery.

Rep. Barbara Flynn Currie, the Chicago Democrat who headed the special committee, said the impeachment resolution shows, "a public servant who has betrayed his oath of office, who has betrayed the public trust, who is not fit to govern the state of Illinois."

"Our state faces a looming cash crisis," Schwarzenegger said.

Democratic State Controller John Chiang, suggested that Schwarzenegger did not have the authority to make the cuts and said he would not cooperate.

At a Los Angeles news conference, Chiang said, "The state of California, the elected leadership, cannot put the important public servants of California in harm's way. We put people first, we make sure we protect their interests, and that's why I have to tell the governor, with all due respect, I am not going to comply with this order."

Schwarzenegger said he would file suit against the controller in court if it comes to that, but there is hope that a budget could be signed within days. However, if an agreement is made, it will have come too late for the 10,000 workers already laid off.

According to various reports, Giuliani – a Duke University student and golf team member – is suing the school on the premise that his golf coach make false accusations about him to justify his dismissal from the team.

The coach – O.D. Vincent III – said Giuliani "flipped his putter a few feet to his golf bag" and drove fast while leaving a golf course parking lot, according to the lawsuit. Giuliani also was accused of playing a team football game harder than the other players liked and of being disrespectful to a trainer.

Today, Dr. Jack Kevorkian announced his bid for a 9th District Congressional seat as an independent candidate, with the promise to only stay in office only two years if elected. His priority will be fighting for the right to die.

"You can’t take my innate rights away from me without a fight,” he said.

Kevorkian takes credit for the assisted deaths of over 130 people from 1990 until 1998 and spent over eight years in prison.

Kervorkian's stance on the government is that it is a tyrannical institution: “You’ve been trained to obey it, not fight for it because the tyrant doesn’t like that,” he said.

His criminal history will not have an impact on his running. The only requirements to run for Congress are the 25-year-old age minimum and that the candidate holds residency in the state.

“This is the most important thing in my life right now,” he said. “If I get into the House, it’s not going to be a docile place.”

New Mexico state law uses games of chance, including poker, to settle tied elections. (Bodog Beat Image)

According to New Mexico law, any tie in a local election must be decided by a game of chance and most recently that game was poker.

Earlier this week, Josie Richards and Michelle Dunlap found themselves neck and neck in the running for the office of Estancia Town Trustee and that's when the law kicked in and the pair picked 5-Card Stud poker to settle the election. Just one hand in which Richards outdrew her opponent with a pair of 9s. How quaint and Wild West-y.

Last year, another New Mexico election was decided by a card game, this time just a simple high-card draw. Prior to that Richards' sister ran for Mayor and ended that race with a tie and used poker for that decision-maker too. She lost.

Maybe the news story here isn't that poker has been used in politics to settle disputed elections for decades, but that New Mexico elections end in ties so often.
