I would argue that the Michigan State Spartans are easily the best 1-2 team in the country. Sparty has been the victim of some bad luck, although mostly of its own doing. Two weeks ago, all the Spartans had to do was recover an onside kick and they would have beaten Central Michigan. They didn't.

Then last week, with the Spartans trailing at Notre Dame by 3 points with just over a minute left, MSU's Larry Caper was all alone in the end zone for the likely winning touchdown catch, but he couldn't quite pull down a Kirk Cousins pass. The on the next play, from the Irish 18, Cousins inexplicably threw into traffic at the 4-yard line. It was picked off, meaning no tying field goal at a minimum and another heartbreaking loss for Sparty.

Bet on college football at Bodog.

As for Wisconsin, the Badgers might be one of the more overrated 3-0 teams in the country. They have beaten Northern Illinois and Wofford (yawn) and probably should have lost at home to Fresno State. Obviously Saturday's game with the Spartans will be Wisconsin's toughest test, and UW is a 3-point favorite on Bodog's college football odds.

The Badgers have been surprisingly balanced so far, having passed for 678 yards and run for 598. If QB Scott Tolzien is the real deal, this team might be something. The junior is 47-for-68 for 641 yards and four touchdowns, and he is second among Big Ten QBs in passer rating and completion percentage. It's the best start for a UW quarterback since 1993. Again, however, consider the competition so far. However, Michigan State has been susceptible against the pass, allowing 251.3 yards per game through the air.

Yet look for the Spartans to focus their defense more on stopping Wisconsin RB John Clay. He has 256 yards on the ground (5.3 yards per carry), including a career-high 143 against Fresno State. He was ripped by his coach for fumbling three times against Wofford last week and thus might be very fired up for this week's game. Clay gained 111 yards on 14 carries and scored a touchdown last year in the Badgers' 25-24 loss to the Spartans last season. The Badgers also use Zach Brown as a change-of-pace back to Clay – the two had the same amount of carries last week.

On offense, Michigan State must find a consistent running attack, as that is averaging just 127 yards per game. The Badgers certainly will double-team top receiver Blair White, who has 22 receptions for 342 yards and four scores. The Spartans have the best passing game in the Big Ten, and the Badgers were shredded through the air by their best competition this year so far in Fresno State.

When doing your football betting at Bodog, consider that Michigan State has a 13-12 record all-time in Madison but that Wisconsin has won eight of the past 12 meetings overall.

Florida State led the Atlantic Coast Conference in scoring defense and field-goal percentage defense. Wisconsin ranked second in the Big Ten in scoring defense and allowed just 59 points per game. It would be a good bet that the winner of their first-round game will be the first team to reach 60 points, assuming either squad gets that many.

Wisconsin is a typical Big Ten program that thrives on low-scoring games and struggles in shootouts. The Badgers need to keep the scores down to have any shot at returning to the Sweet 16 this season.
For the 3-point favored Seminoles it all depends on Toney Douglas. If Douglas performs as well as he did in ACC competition, Florida State is strong enough defensively to claw its way into the Sweet 16. Check out the Bodog Sportsbook for all your March Madness betting.

The Big Ten has taken its lumps in non-conference play. But the No. 8 Wisconsin Badgers have thrived at 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS. They’ll be the favorites going into Ann Arbor, where they haven’t won since 1994, to face the rebuilding Michigan Wolverines (1-2 SU, 0-3 ATS).

The Wolverines have been pretty bad this year. They lost at home to Utah (+3) and on the road to Notre Dame (+1), and they only scored 16 points at the Big House against Miami-Ohio (+14.5). Rich Rodriguez still has a decent defense to work with, but his offense is in tatters without the likes of Chad Henne, Mike Hart and Mario Manningham.

Wisconsin is a small-market team that has made good money for football and basketball handicappers. The Badgers do it with their usual dull and efficient combination of defense and running. Meanwhile, the Wolverines have committed nine turnovers, worst in the Big Ten. Wisconsin all the way. Get all your NCAA College Football Odds in the Bodog Sportsbook today!

NCAA's Prodigal Son Strikes Again

At what point can we abandon our faith in the national seeding system and admit that a team capable of steam rolling through Gonzaga, Georgetown and now the University of Wisconsin is no longer the underdog?

Led by the NCAA's prodigal son (and Dell Curry's real one), the Davidson Wildcats prevailed over the Wisconsin Badgers 73-56.

After scoring a combined 70 points in the first two games of the tournament, Stephen Curry poured in another 33 to give him an outstanding average of 34.3 points per game in this year's big dance, and the world is taking notice.

The game was close for the bulk of the first half and, as a result, the two teams took to their locker rooms tied 36 at the half. Not long into the second half however, things would change.

Immediately the Wildcats would prove to be the better team following the break as they jumped out with an 18-9 run, fueled largely in part by the baby-faced Curry just weeks removed from his 20th birthday.

Curry erupted for 22 points in the second half alone.

Despite his irrefutable dominance however, Curry was not alone in his efforts to propel Davidson to an even higher level of national infatuation. Point guard Jason Richards added a more-than-respectable 10 assists in the contest.

Coming up next for Davidson in their quest to sneak their way to a national championship is the winner of tonight's Kansas/Villanova matchup.

From the looks of it, Stephen Curry hasn't yet hit Sweet 16 himself. (AP Images)

Can underdog Davidson keep this ball rolling by beating Wisconsin, a team not many prognosticators gave much respect at the start of the NCAA tournament?

Oddsmakers have the Wildcats as +5.5 and +215 on the moneyline, despite the fact the Davison has peeled off 23 wins in a row and just upset Georgetown.

Wisconsin is a tough-minded, defensive squad that well represents the Big Ten’s reputations for playing one of the most boring brands of ball in the country. But not even the defense-first, Big East Hoyas could contain Stephen Curry in the second round of March Madness.

Curry is averaging 35 points per game through two rounds, 25 in the second half. He’s been lights out, going 14-25 against Georgetown and filling up the stat sheet with three steals, five assists and three rebounds. All while looking like a prepubescent junior high-schooler.

"It's been one of the greatest weeks of my life," Curry said. "It's just been crazy for us."

Of course Wisconsin has to stop Curry, but also has to consider the likes of Andrew Lovedale and Jason Richards, both of whom have contributed major minutes for Davidson.

Lovedale hauled in 13 rebounds in a comeback win over Gonzaga, while Richards is averaging 17.5 points and 7.5 assists in the Big Dance thus far.

For Wisconsin, they’ve yet to be really challenged, walking over Cal State Fullerton and Kansas State by 15 and 17 points respectively.

The Badgers are led by Tyson Hughes (11.6 points and 2.5 assists) and Brian Butch (12.4 points and 6.7 rebounds) and know what it takes to stop a team led by a superstar. They held likely number one NBA draft pick Michael Beasley to 8-19 shooting in the second round of March Madness and forced K-State to shoot just 39.6 percent form the field.

To bet on the NCAA Tournament visit the Bodog Sportsbook.

Once again the Wisconsin Badgers heard about the star on the other side of the floor. And again the workmanlike Big Ten champs didn’t buckle.

Kansas State’s Michael Beasley got his points but the rest of the Wildcats did very little against Wisconsin, which claimed a 72-55 second-round victory Saturday in the NCAA Tournament.

While Beasley got all the hype, the Badgers’ team effort overwhelmed No. 11 K-State in the second half of the Midwest Region game. Behind 25 points from Trevon Hughes, Wisconsin pulled away to reach the Sweet 16 round of March Madness.

The Badgers were favored by 4.5 on the point spread in Omaha, Neb. They cruised behind a tenacious defense that allowed only freshman Beasley (23 points) and Billy Walker (18) to reach double figures for K-State.

In the West Region on Saturday afternoon:

No. 3 Xavier 85, No. 6 Purdue 78: The Musketeers did their best all-for-one-one-for-all performance as they spread the offense around to dismantle the Boilermakers in Washington, D.C. Drew Landender and C.J. Anderson both scored 18 points, and Josh Duncan added 16 in the win. Xavier covered the three-point spread.

Cal State Fullerton hung with Wisconsin in the first half, but the Badgers were able to pull away in the second.

Cal State was only down two points at halftime, keeping pace behind the play of guard Josh Akognon.

Akognon schooled the Badgers all contest, scoring 31 points and knocking down five of 12 threes, but he didn't have much help. There was only one other Titan that reached double digits.

Wisconsin had a more balanced attack, three players finished with double digits in points and three had at least nine rebounds.
